It sucks to let certain players go we all feel have the potential at being great players in the league, but the team won - mostly - without Fred Davis, and they can continue to win without him. I'd much rather have him here, but sometimes you have to take your medicine and let go of the things you can't afford.

I believe if the Redskins are able to make it back to the playoffs this year, even more so if they do it by also winning the division again, then it will be even easier for the 'skins to completely let go of the ideology that you have to make the big name signing during free agency to properly fill holes on your roster. The 'skins have done a much better job since Bruce Allen and Mike Shanahan has taken over, but I think this is something they needed to face to keep their focus on player development.
