I do think the Chicken Littles up in here need to take a pill. Our secondary will be so much better next year because of the presence of Brandon Meriweather alone. They will come up with a passable CB either through the draft or through patience in free agency.

And has everyone forgotten how Reed Doughty performed at the end of the year? Dude may have turned a corner.

Best I've ever seen him play. In fact...he was damn good. If he can keep up that level of play..that would definitely improve our secondary quite a bit.

Damn good? S he was playing at an all pro level, but... It was for one half. He has had trouble playing at that level consistently which is how he ended up with us. We need him to work out for us next year really bad.

And speaking of safety, I heard that Jackson will not be able to practice or participate in anything with the team until the end of the preseason, since that's when his suspension went into effect. Is there any chance he will be a contributor next year or is he a lost cause at this point?

I'm confident our secondary will be improved, but not sure about the above. Merriwether's injury history is really, really concerning at this point. I think we'd be irresponsible to count on him. Luckily, Doughty is turning into a fine wine of sorts and improving with age (experience really), so we're probably ok at SS even without adding a starter. Gotta add starting FS talent though, no two ways about it. Our 2013 starting FS CANNOT be on the roster today or else we'll still have a bottom of the league defense
