It's not so surprising that he failed. It is surprising that the biggest wallet in the NFL can't yield the personnel to beat the lions...FIRE THE FRONT OFFICE.
Damn I love your post

Re: Now What??

I think Zorn limps on to the bye. Then we go with an interim from the current staff--but it's hard because you can't just institute a new system. This season will play out with Zorn's scheme whoever is calling the plays. We're pretty locked in, I think.

To everyone who wants to move Gray up, isn't he the secondary coach, the secondary which is getting beat like a drum?

My guess is we limp out the year, either with Zorn or an interim, and then hire a new staff, IF WE CAN!!! Remember: no really good prospect wants to come here, given the FO culture. Why ruin your future?

Serious question: do you re-sign JC? Drafting a QB is a crap shoot. NOt sure what vets will be available. I think JC has looked ok, given we have NO run game. At all. WTF?

What a mess. Well, we have another winnable game (on paper) next week. We'll keep muddling along I guess...

(PS: was it just me or did the refs just suck ass today? Wow.)

Not that it would have mattered in the game, but yes they missed a lot of calls...the retracted facemask called, and I remember seeing at least one encroachment not called. Although they did miss a PI by Carlos Rogers.

I hate to say this, but I'm glad the Redskins loss. I mean at least with a loss you can be completely pissed off. Had they pulled the win, well we would have had another week of being pissed at the terrible playcalling/play of the team, but sitting at 2-1.

I do not know why I feel compelled to respond, but no it didn't. They beat Detroit 45-0 in the first game and went 11-0 to start the year.

No it didn't. We were 11-0 at one point.

Re: Now What??

I also want to point out that the 49ers focused on their O-line the past few years and as a result have looked pretty good this year. In fact I'm willing to bet their O-line was one of the main reasons they were able to compete against the Vikings today without Gore.

Re: Now What??

Ok, I'm trying to calm down. At this point if I was DS I would bring in Holmgren to act as an advisor to assist Zorn. If Zorn's not having it fire Zorn and let Holmgren take over the team. Keep Orakpo at DE full time, put Wilson at full time SLB and hope we have someone who can spell Wilson at LB periodically, play all our rookie WR's Thomas, Kelly, and Mitchell as much as possible so they are somewhat NFL experienced for next yr. I know Moss was not the problem but I would use him as a situational player only just to give the young guys experience.

Play Collins starting this week. JC is not getting it done. Start looking at other viable options for the right side of the O-line. Either trade out someone or bring someone from outside the team. Play Mason and Alridge for no other reason but to give them experience. Start Barnes, move Landry to SS, and bring in Moore or whoever is a true FS.

Also stop playing players out of their positions like Landry, Orakpo, and so on.

I think that actually sounds like a good prescription. I doubt it happens, but I'd endorse it.

This is where having an agenda negates any credibility you may have. I'll be the first to admit that Campbell's play in the 2nd half today was not very good, but if you can HONESTLY convince any knowledgeable football fan that Campbell is largely to blame for us being 1-2 then you should be a lawyer because you can convince anyone of anything. Seriously, our problems are SO much bigger than Jason Campbell to even consider or suggest benching him for a 38 year old career backup should be enough to eliminate any doubt of your football ignorance.
