I'm not exactly sure why, maybe because of the successful marketing behind the Seattle Sounders, but soccer is big in Seattle and growing at a rapid pace.

Thanks for that Lotus.

I do appreciate that a lot of England fans do appear to have a ridiculously superior attitude when it comes to soccer. I have to deal with them on a daily basis on another forum.

I like to think it is more about eternal optimism than true arrogance.

Anyway, best of luck to USA in their game with Ghana. I have a feeling you will do better than England will against Germany.

Slovakia eliminates Italy with a 3-2 win. So defending champ Italy, and the runner-up France both gone

The Azzuri are the biggest bunch of flopping primadonnas. Good riddance. And France was just a mess. The arrogance of those two teams, I'm happy they got a face full of humble pie.

Both severely underachieved, and now both will watch the rest of the tournament from their couches like the rest of us.

Re: The Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Thread

That Slovakia-Italy game was exciting. For a team that is supposed to live off its defense, Italy had some lazy defending, particularly the Slovakia goal directly off the throw-in.

I'm glad to see all the world powers fall. Nice to know another will go down in the next round since England is playing Germany.

Re: The Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Thread

Who knew on June 11 that Italia would finish winless, last in their group, looking up at New Zealand, and lucky to even be in the game vs. Slovakia?

Sweet! Maybe the Azzuri and Les Bleus can party together to watch the rest of the cup.

If Spain loses tomorrow there's a decent chance you can add them to that party as well.

I love it...they did get cheated on that goal though...that was clearly in not that it would have mattered in the end.
