Good Read. Tatupu would be a great fit next to Fletcher in our 3-4.

OLB- Kerrigan
ILB- Tatupu
ILB- Fletcher
OLB- Orakpo

Add Tatupu, I'd argue that we'd have the best LB group, ahead of the Giants, Boys, Eagles (maybe in the NFC).

Adding Hayden, who also was released for a high salary, and injuries, is a great fit here, especially now with Buchannon being suspended. IMO Hayden is a solid #2 but would be our best cover corner we'd have, making him our unofficial #1 CB. He's an uprgade over J. Wilson, and for a cheaper price. Wilson is better suited at Nickel, but given the money we gave him, he'll probably start opposite Hall.

If Hayden signs, Webstbrook and Barnes are fighting for 1 spot, w/ Thompson on PS (Practice Squad)

I might be the only one who feels this way, but this article feels so retarded I feel the need to trash it. Let's start by analyzing the four points this article states.

Tatupu is only 28 years old. He was a second-round pick in the 2005 NFL draft by the Seattle Seahawks.

Tatupu played his ball at USC but did not log too much mileage. He started his career at the University of Maine.

After his freshman year at Maine, he decided to transfer to join Pete Carroll and his unstoppable linebacker production line.

Tatupu was forced to sit a year for the transfer and ended up playing just two seasons at USC.

He put up great numbers but only logged 25 games, compared to double that number that some top linebackers play in college.

Tatupu has fresher legs than many think because of his low mileage and should be rewarded with a long-term contract if he manages to stay healthy

I'm not gonna argue that he's relatively in his prime right now. 28 years old is a great age to be, and he also has a history as a Pro Bowl MLB for the Seahawks. But one of the reasons they let him go is because he has knee problems, that could be troublesome for his long term future.
From Rotoworld: "NFL Films analyst Greg Cosell noted Tuesday that Tatupu looked slower on film and was "not the same player" last season in Seattle. "He's now a question, not a certain," adds Cosell."
Now I will cut him some slack, maybe these injuries are just a one time deal, and he's really not injury prone, even though he hasn't stayed healthy or looked the same these past few years.

Tatupu could be a great fit as an inside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme.

He played in a 4-3 in college and throughout his Seattle career.

Going into a 3-4 would be a great change of a pace for the linebacker. He has yet to play it but seems like he would be a good fit.

His skill set lends him to playing the inside of a 3-4 much better than a 4-3. Having the extra linebacker out there will benefit him greatly.

If Tatupu is healthy, he could completely rejuvenate his career in Washington’s defensive scheme.

This is what I don't like about this article. All they've got is,"He's never played in a 3-4 before, but it seems like he might be a good fit." I mean really? That's what we've got to go on? We've gone down the "this free agent seems like he might a good fit" road before, with not-so-good results.

The Washington Redskins desperately need someone who can take command of the defense.

After Albert Haynesworth sunk team morale to record lows last season and Mike Shanahan constantly quarreled with certain players like Donovan McNabb, the team needs to find an identity.

While the linebacker corps has veterans London Fletcher and Rocky McIntosh, Tatupu would help bring a solidifying presence to the locker room.

He was named captain his first year in the league and obviously is inspiring and respected.

Shanahan would be smart to bring in a man who can command a room like that after last season’s disaster.

Anytime leadership and the Redskins comes up, I honestly don't see how you can shortchange Fletcher like that. There's nothing Tatupu could've said or done that would've made us forget about McNabb and Haynesworth last year. Fletcher has the leadership angle covered. That first sentence really annoys me, it's like the writer forgot that Fletcher existed. Fail.

Tatupu left the Seahawks because they refused to pay him an extra million dollars.

Dan Snyder, the Redskins owner, gives out millions of dollars every single year to free agents much worse than Tatupu.

Money is never seemingly an option to the Washington Redskins, except when that pesky salary cap gets in the way. It seems like they have become the New York Yankees of the NFL, but without the occasional postseason success.

Tatupu would get a fair deal from the ‘Skins, who run the 3-4 defense he could excel in.

And the biggest reason why Tatupu should sign with us is money, so we can dole out millions on him? And I like how he says that money is never a problem, except when we have to worry about the salary cap. Like this offseason? When we spent the first week of free agency doing nothing because we were too busy trying to free up cap space like our NFCE brethren NY and Dallas? It's nice to see how some things never change.

I'd like to make it clear. I'm not entirely against Tatupu. The writer might be right in saying he could be a good fit for us. But this article highlights all the wrong points in talking about why we should bring him in. To sum up the article.

A. Tatupu is young, and clearly will be fine for several more years, because it's not like he's had any injury problems or anything.

B. Tatupu has never played in a 3-4 before, but he might be good in it.

C. Tatupu is a leader, and the Redskins clearly don't have anyone, let alone an existing MLB, who fulfills a leadership role on this team.

D. Tatupu needs to get paid. Who better to do that than the Redskins?
