It's because people always forget to switch fonts. sarcasm font is very easily detectible.

Snyder already owns the rights to the name 'Washington Warriors'. I'm guessing that's the direction they would go if they did change the name.

No. Washington Pigskins. It's a lock. You heard it here first.

It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. That and maybe going with the spear logo on the helmets.

Washington cannot have an NBA name, this is a current unwritten rule of American Sports.

That's sort of what my old high school did. Apparently back in the day the logo/mascot was of a Native American but when they decided to stop using that they switched to a Robin Hood-looking guy or a knight, which make sense for the Sherwood Warriors.

I'm sure he isn't happy about this.

On Washington Redskins’ name, it’s time the grown-ups talk sense into Daniel Snyder - The Washington Post

Re: Smithsonian Museum - yet another thread on team name

The Washington Post, and Sally Jenkins in particular, cover the Redskins/Dan Snyder with a very thinly veiled bit of contempt. She, at least in her coverage, hates Snyder, and any news item which she can use to mock, attack or just plain hate on Snyder she will do it. A lot of that Dan brought on himself with his early moves when he bought the team, but to think this article is anything more than just an attempt to slam Snyder is basically wrong.

I hope eventually the Post and the Skins kiss and make up, but until then I'll rely on several other far more accurate, and less biased, sources for Skins community news.

This and Wise just has a stick in his butt on this. Different philosophies are at work. My feeling is that it isn't meant to be offensive, quite the opposite really, and it isn't universally regarded as racist so the PC folks can go pound sand. I have a real problem with the notion that a few people can get upset over something that isn't actually hurting them in any real way and then effect change. The other side thinks these people, infinitesimally insignificant in numbers as they are, get to decide what's best for everyone else.
