Re: Kirk Cousins Expected To Start Sunday

im gonna nit-pic here. i dont know why the article said shanahan was a large reason for the skins getting the cap penalty.

the cap penalty/violation was for the structure of the contract vinny had AH and hall sign so i dont really know why that is put at shanahan's feet. the violation came at the time of signing, which was on DS and vinny's watch.

just nit-picking though.

im looking forward to watching mike's presser once it is up. sounds like he has gone full asshole but im gonna wait to watch and make up my own mind

Wrong. The penalty was for Shanny and Bruce Allen restructuring the original contracts, pushing a large portion as guaranteed money into the uncapped year (2010), reducing future cap liability. I still feel that this was legal since there was no CBA, and that year had no salary cap, but the owners colluded to not go there, and Dallas and Washington thumbed their noses at the rest of the owners. Bullshit penalty, but Vinny had ZERO to do with it.

Vinny signed a worthless piece of shit to a record high amount for a player on defense. Vinny has every single bit to do with it

Wrong the penalty was Snyder for accepting the deal or to pay for it. Cerrato for making the deal. and I would blame the NFL for signing off on the restructures then after the fact claiming foul and assigning a penalty. In reality its their fault for signing off on the contracts to begin with... penalize that person not the Skins.

Because Shannahan could have cut both players and all would have been good, but instead he chose to keep Al and Hall. Restructuring there contracts so all the prorated money would be charged to the uncapped year. This caused some teams to lose players at the position, because it made the franchise tag huge for the two positions. It was all Shannahan's fault.

I thought it was the restructuring of several contracts in the uncapped year to avoid it hurting our cap in other years.

Hey, I think it will be humbling for RG3-10. I am excited to see Kirk. But, if this is really a play to get fired it is the most dispicable act any NFL coach has ever commited.

Remember, Shanny learned to play "hardball" from an even bigger, epic asshole, Al Davis. Funny how he berates the character of Haynesworth and McNabb, leaks unflattering stories about Griffin, yet still has a holier than thou attitude, as if he is a beacon of high character. He can't hold Joe Gibbs's jockstrap in that regard. Good f'ing riddance, MS. And you can take Boy Wonder with you.

Re: Kirk Cousins Expected To Start Sunday

More from Chris Cooley. I think decent observation. and fair.

Cooley: Cousins a better pocket passer than RGIII

Quote:
* “[Robert Griffin III] only reads one side of the field, and the Kansas City Chiefs were very aware of that. When he takes the snap, his head goes to whatever side of the field he wants to throw to, and so do the rest of the Kansas City Chiefs. He looks right; you’ve got three guys just running right to pick up routes. They aborted the other side of the field in their zones.”
Quote:
* “His technique right now, as far as dropping and throwing the ball, is dreadful. He’s throwing high over and over and over again. He’s throwing behind guys, he’s missing guys, his accuracy is as low as I’ve seen from a guy who should be a very good quarterback. He is never taking a regular drop from under center. He is only taking awkward pistol drops and shotgun drops. And I believe if you want to evolve him as far as technique goes, it wouldn’t hurt to have him take a five-step drop from under the center. He’s never doing that. We’re never doing that. If they aren’t going to do that ever, they need to work on his technique. It’s like a golfer who moves his feet the entire time he swings….He has such happy feet when he’s in the pocket; even if he’s untouched, free in the pocket, he’s jumping, he’s stepping, he’s got legs flipping everywhere as he throws the ball, and I have such a hard time believing that he can be accurate in that fashion. And he’s not. He’s proving me right, every week. He’s inaccurate.”
Quote:
* “At this point, my belief is that he may not be getting better; he may be developing worse habits that would stay with him for a longer period of time. When Shanahan talked about keeping him healthy, I don’t hate the idea of him coming out to stay healthy. Because he goes from his first read to looking around the offensive line to see if he needs to run. He doesn’t have faith to sit in that pocket and go from one side of the field to the other. His eyes go from first read to am I getting sacked almost simultaneously. And he’s stepping up and making moves to run in the pocket when he goes off read number 1.”

Eeventually, Steve Czaban asked if all of this meant that the Redskins had vastly overpaid for a player who remains a work-in-progress.
“You’re getting close,” Cooley said. “You’re getting close. You would have said the exact same thing about Cam Newton [last season], and he’s having a much better year. [But] he’s got to find a way to grow.”
Kinda says what I've been trying to say all along.

Re: Kirk Cousins Expected To Start Sunday

It will not surprise me if Cousins goes out and plays well and doesn't get sacked at all. He had a whole offseason to work on reading blitzes and adjusting the Oline accordingly. Something RG3 hasn't done all season.

Cousins did it on his first drive last Sunday and completed the pass for a would be first down, but Paulsen fumbled the ball.

If he plays well, the madness will begin/continue about what a great QB Cousins is, and people will start screaming for him to start, or thinking the Redskins can trade him for multiple first round picks to recoup the losses from the Griffin trade. One of the worst things that can happen is for the unproven, very mediocre Cousins to do well for that very reason. And also because it will give the arrogant Shanahan more ammo to say he was right.

Of course, since Cousins will be facing a horrible Falcons team, then the worst defense in the league with Dallas, and another shoddy outfit in NY, his chances of playing well or winning a game or two aren't too crazy...so he'll win a game or two an/or put up good numbers and the madness will continue.

The only reason this is being done is to keep the silly soap opera drama going. Shanahan hasn't given two squats about Griffin's health to date, now all of a sudden he's concerned about his health? Yeah right.

This whole outfit needs to get blown up and redone from scratch.

(sigh)

Whether Shanahan stays or gets fired.... what if the next HC doesn't believe in RG3 either based off of what he's seen and thinks Cousins is better? I guess they will just have to trade Cousins anyway and find a way to force RG3 to get better. Thats it right? Don't even think of trading RG3 or making him a very expensive back up. lol.

Seriously? We give up all those picks and we're ready to delegate RG3 to backup duty or trade bait if Cousins is better? RG3's defining year is next year, not this year. You get 3 strikes before you're out.

Look, I want the best product on the field. If it's Cousins then guess what... I want Cousins starting. If its RG3 then I want RG3 starting. I'll admit RG3 has the best "POTENTIAL" but if he's not living up to that potential then I'll take Cousins.
I could care less about all the picks given up for any QB or the amount of money being tossed to either.
