Bingo !! We have a Winner !! That move set this team back years ! Without a QB you are the WFT…

Amazing how much run Jimmy Moreland gets by some fans. According to Pro Football Reference he hasn't played a single defensive snap for Houston and has played all but 5 on ST.

But when he was here he was getting better. I certainly thought he had more to offer than others they chose to keep. I know it is usually the opposite but maybe we bought out the best in him. Maybe he was thankful for the chance.

Maybe he's not very good and he was just another training camp hero. He can't even get on the field for Houston.

He played in almost every game for us over two years, started in 10 and knew how to tackle.

Not sure why he is riding the pine there but I liked his play here. To me it was just a questionable cut. But whatever it isn’t the end of the world.

Your perspective:
Ron Rivera cut a quality young corner on a team-friendly rookie contract. Y?????? It makes zero sense.

Thinking outside the box:

A. Moreland was not that good
B. Moreland regressed in training camp and was constantly getting beat.
C. Ron Rivera got mad because Moreland banged his side piece.
D. Ron Rivera played with Moreland's father - who was a POS - and cutting Moreland was the result of a decades long vendetta against the Moreland family. Rivera is all about the long-con.

Good points. I'd say 2 things though:

-with how awfully our secondary has been playing, I wouldn't put too much faith into our coaching staff's ability to accurately evaluate DBs

-with how awfully disappointing our secondary has been playing as a whole, it's not crazy to think something's off in the DB locker room and/or with the DB coach. So with that setting in mind, option B, Moreland regressing significantly in TC, is not unlikely at all.

I forgot to mention option E: Our other young corners played at his level or close to his level in training camp and they have the added bonus of playing special teams whereas Moreland doesn't.

Honestly think that played a factor.

Lol. Listen you saw the guy play for two years also. Did you not think he was getting better? My perspective is RR thought that our defense was so stout he wasn’t necessary and kept some others. St Juste, Jackson also. I can’t blame him if that was the thought process. Just imo would have cut someone else. Not the end of the world.

I mean, just based on what I saw in the games I would have probably kept him over Apke, but it's not a move that keeps me up at night.

Yep, it sounds like the opening paragraph of one of those nfl.com 'what if' draft articles!
