I view the whole the whole deal as this ..the fans that lived through the REDSKINS glory days are lucky .. The Fans that came on board when Snyder bought the team and has to endure his incompetence as a owner I feel for you .. The WFT is a blip on the radar, There is no more Redskins( I wish when Snyder bought it they would have changed the name .. he did not deserve the name) .. moving on to today we all are waiting for the big announcement of the new Name/logo/brand.. I wish a new OWNER would also be in the works .. but that’s wishful thinking .. I’ve allready filed my REDSKIN memories when a real owner had them in a special place .. the Snyder era is a damn joke ! What does the future hold .. one thing for sure Snyder can’t drag the REDSKINS down anymore .. whatever the new name/look etc is as long as Snyder is involved it won’t be good .. I’m close to checking out on the little man and his massive EGO , He is Damn lucky to have Ron as a coach because Snyder deserves Urban .. they fit like a glove , there is not one person on this forum that can take up for Snyder .. we try and ignore it but truth is a new name and stadium ain’t gonna change this rotten culture .. it remains to be seen how many of us continue to support this mess.. I can’t pretend anymore this is the Redskins.. it’s not and never will be agian . Wolves,Hogs,commanders, whatever as long as Snyder is owner it will be as some of you call it .. a Hot Mess! I can only hope he is forced out and the new team will have a chance ..

I still think a lot of credit has been given to the "Redwolves/Wolves is absolutely out" and "It's gonna be Commanders" rumors, both based on somebody on Twitter supposedly knowing someone's cousin working somewhere...

I'm pretty sure Redwolves is out because of legal issues with the trademark, not because of a Twitter rumor.

I don't buy the trademark issues. Not saying it will be redwoods, but if the team can't overcome a trademark then all the names are pretty much trashed. This is a once in a century option - like a franchise qb if you find the one you want you pull out all the stops to get him. Haven't we proven we know how to do that!

There are trademark issues with Redwolves, but the twitter rumor is that somebody heard it's completely out.

I read an article the other day, trademark rules are way more complicated as people think, IE there's a notion of does the consumer make a confusion between the 2 brands. Which definitely wouldn't be the case between an NFL team located in DC and a college team in Arkansas.

Not an expert, but from what I understood there's nothing there that a multi billions dollars franchise couldn't hurdle.

That's just silly. Washington Commanders is almost as perfect as the Buffalo Bills when you consider that Washington was considered the best Military Commander in the history of this country.

A team in the nation's capital, surrounded by all that history' has to reflect it in some way in its name, like the capitals and the Nationals IMO

I’d say it is even better. Buffalo isn’t named after William Cody the way Washington is named after George Washington. Buffalo also uses a bison as its mascot and erroneously calls it Billy Buffalo. They even have a bison for their logo and not a buffalo. The entire thing doesn’t make yet nobody cares.

Thank you !! Your analogy of the name Commanders in reference to George Washington made complete sense!! Count me in as a fan of the Name now hopefully they will use it!!
