Point Blank yes.

KC is going down the path the team said they wanted to go in relation to the FT. He hasn't done a Josh Norman and refused to sign. As Bruce Allen said, it really is simple, and if they wanted it done, they would put an offer on the table that is comparable to the guarantees they are giving him by using the FT.

At the same token 44M for up to 36 games, is a hell of a lot of money, and it does boggle the mind that he would not sign for even more guaranteed if it were in front of him.

My question is, if they offer him 5 years at 23.94 per with half guaranteed, would he sign immediately? It's hard to voice what side you're most frustrated with because we don't know the details of any offers or counter offers. Just hold your nose because this can easily go to July.

For people that are freaking out about these types of negotiations, take a look a the negotiation history between Von Miller and the Broncos last year. It went right down to the wire, but the deal got done. There was a bit of drama (there was the whole "Von Miller cropping Elway out of one of his pics on Instagram" episode), some details about the negotiation leaked to the media, and there was a lot of back and forth.

Sure it'd be great if the deal got done right away, but like most of these types of negotiations, I think it will go right up until July.

Re: Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag

Are people really freaking out over this? I haven't really noticed any behavior on here that would lead me to believe people are freaking out per se. I think the largely shared sentiment is that people are just tired of hearing about it. Trade the man. Get it over with. Sign the man. Get it over with. Either way, we're just done. I know all about the deals are done in the 11th hour (so to speak) and that's just the way it works. That's great. But as Redskins fans, we want to look forward to the next season and feel good about our team and support Kirk Cousins, or we want the band-aid pulled off so we have time to mentally prepare ourselves for what could be a not so great season with a backup quarterback. I think that's pretty reasonable and logical to consider.

That being said, I have all the confidence in the world that Cousins signs a long term deal with the Redskins. All the business stuff aside, he's still a competitor and I'm sure he wants to be somewhere where he has the best chance at the post season and a Super Bowl. Between the 49ers and Browns right now, the Redskins clearly are much further ahead.

Re: Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag

I am glad that KC straightened out his position. I think he plays this year on the FT unless the Skins do a record setting deal, and maybe they will. His most telling part to me was his desire to see what he is worth as a free agent. I think had the Skins let him negotiate with teams under the non-exclusive tag he would have felt that he was getting market value, but by making it exclusive he knows it sets him up for a 1 year 33 million price next year, at that point he will have played for 77million over three years. Any long term deal has to match that structure (25m apy). I got the feeling he is more than willing to play by the FT rules until the Skins let him see his market value or pay him over what he thinks the market would pay him since he can't.prove it because the Skins didn't let him. For percentages
Before draft
55% trade
20% LTD
25% FT

After draft
60% FT
30% LTD
10% Trade

No, his agent is probably asking for 90-100m guaranteed.
They need to give him an all guaranteed contract and be done with it. Screw it up for all other teams trying to sign a qb.

Re: Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag

While I'm very confident a long term deal will get done this offseason (like VERY confident : KC's last comment, Pryor's signing, Gruden's extention, exclusive tag... The rest is either rumor or strategical leak), I don't see it happening before July 14th.

A lot of money involved, both side will want to use all the Time they can to negotiate.

That task calls for a beer but that's why he's a professional athlete.

KC strikes me as a Coors lite kind of cat. Maybe even Mich Ultra.
