boring mini-vid of Haynesworth doing some conditioning after practice ending in a fist-bump with Haslett

RickMaese

Redskins have handful of coaching interns, including Terrell Davis, Steve Atwater, Michael Pittman, Steve Beuerlein and Clarence Vaughn

couple new names since yesterday

Beuerlein was all around the league and played with Shanny for a few years in Denver

Vaugh was drafted by us and I think only played for us including our SB XXII and XXVI years

Moore has had the majority of first team reps, but there are several weeks and preseason left

I've also read that Alexander has not only impressed, but is penciled in as the starting weak side LB, relegating Carter to a backup role.

His versatility has truly been extended. It's a tribute to his commitment being able to play so many different positions.

That's huge, not only because he's impressing, but Carter at backup is some VERY quality depth.

i'm very impressed with alexander too. He's done everything this team has ever asked him to do - and done it well - and now he may finally be rewarded for his hard work. if i'm not mistaken, this would be the first time he's been penciled in as a starter in his entire career. i'm not so sure that carter would stay as a backup though. there's no cap in 2010, but i think if the skins could save any considerable amount of "real" money by releasing him, i think they would.

He's got to be disappointed, though. He's went from having the best year of his career (thanks largely to Haynesworth) to being a backup in a defense that doesnt fit him well. I admire his class in keeping his mouth shut and not becoming a problem, but i also feel pretty bad for the guy.

It would be interesting to see how many sacks did Carter get when AH was out of the line up. Not taking anything away from AH but I never see Carter being double teamed, before of after AH got here.

Word. I don't understand why they didn't work together to find him a great team still running the 4-3? He's such a physical phenom I think another 4 yrs of solid play is likely. Carter deserves to start (at 4-3 DE) and we should have gotten some value. Not the best work by our FO this yr.

I don't think Carter has a position in a 3-4. But he is our best pass rusher so I would expect to see him and Orakpo coming off the edges on 3rd downs.
