Re: Skins vs. Cards Positives + Negatives
One thing I do know because I've seen it several times before in the NFL: A new DC can make a big difference in a short period of time if the change is made during the season.
HOWEVER, isn't Haslett close with Jay Gruden? Didn't Gruden play for him or coach under him or something? Is Haslett the Gruden family's adopted uncle? I don't know the exact relationship but I don't get the feeling that Jay would be willing to make a change of DC's anytime soon. Besides, wasn't the bad defense under Shanahan really Shanny's fault because he wouldn't let Haslett "turn loose" the pass rushers? Regardless of what happened during Haslett's years under Shanahan, I can't explain away the remaining decades of his mediocrity as a DC. Perhaps it was due to global warming.

Re: Skins vs. Cards Positives + Negatives
I apologize. Forget my previous post. Haslett is a great DC and if our defense is poor it is in no way attributable to the current DC. In fact, there is nobody on planet Earth who could do a better job than Jim Haslett.

Is Sean McVay the right guy for the Skins? Is he the guy who turns RG3 into that pocket passer? I have my doubts

I personally question the offensive play calling in light of the fact that we have such weak offensive line. Teams are very aggressive in stopping the run and trying to disrupt the passing. I don't know why we don't throw more slants or screen passes to take advantage of the opposing defense's aggressiveness. It seems that the team waits until the late in the 3rd or 4th quarter, to throw a screen pass to Roy Helu that goes for like 40 yards. We also can't seem to convert 3rd and short situations, I know this past Sunday there were about two or three (maybe more) situations, where we couldn't convert in short yardage situations.

Re: Skins vs. Cards Positives + Negatives
The offense hasn't been consistently effective at all this season. Really, without Jackson's long touchdowns it would be borderline pathetic. A large part of that is definitely the weakness along the offensive line. Outside of Williams, everyone has played poorly. I truly hate looking towards Dallas with envy of any kind, but they have built a strong OL the right way. I've been an opponent of the 'WE MUST DRAFT OL EARLY' crowd every offseason but I am starting to see the errors of my ways. It's insane that other than Williams we haven't drafted an offensive lineman above the 3rd round in 15 years (Samuels & Jansen) and our 3rd round OL picks have been mediocre at best (Dockery, LeRiebust, Moses). That absolutely must be corrected.
Call me crazy but I will also put a lot of the offensive struggles on the fact that Griffin is hurt. He is far from perfect but the one thing he doesn't consistently do is hurt the team's chances to win. He doesn't have multiple turnover disasters like Rex Cousins does repeatedly. I hope these past few weeks will kill any of the discussion of a QB controversy going forward. Defensively, Haslett is a clown. Some of the coverage 'schemes' are just incomprehensible. Watching the Seattle game, the first touchdown was a pass a Pop Warner QB could have thrown. CBs playing outside leverage in the slot with single high safety shaded towards the weakside of the formation? There was not even a move made and it was a simple go route and Baldwin was open by 12 yards. Hopefully we hire Wade Phillips as our DC for next year. He's a 3-4 master and a helluva coordinator.

Re: Skins vs. Cards Positives + Negatives
I would take Wade or dream hire would be Rex Ryan at DC.

Re: Skins vs. Cards Positives + Negatives
The funny thing is, the offense that Seattle runs now is exactly what we ran in 2012 with a few wrinkles added, but we got people talking about the Wilson blueprint. Even more hilarious is that we have more weapons on offense than Seattle does or at worst just as much, but this tea is delicious.
