I think it's disrespectful to call someone else's wife a whore, but I have no doubt that kind of stuff gets said across the line of scrimmage all day long.

Spitting is no different than any other insult, and I dont think it means anything in the game of football.

On the street is a totally different thing and what doesn't fly for you and me is completely irrelevant to the NFL.

I think all of us would agree that spitting is disrespectful, and to a person we all would pretty much agree that this has gone on for God knows how long in the NFL.

No, this doesn't obsolve Sean Taylor in any way. It was a shameful act.

But I think, perhaps I'm being presumptuous, some of us are a little embarrassed and disappointed about the fact that the sport which we hold so high and esteem and such a despicable and shameful act could co-exist at the same time.

If you are right about this, 12thMan, then those people are extremely naive. Anyone who thinks dirty and nasty things aren't said and done every game, they've got their head in the clouds. Awful stuff happens at the bottom of the pile. At the bottom of piles, guys shove fingers in eyes, ears, noses, buttholes (no joke), they scratch, they pinch, they hit in the privates, and when they can they hit in the face. They call names and insult family members to provoke other players. All of this goes on in the game we all love. I hope all of us realize this, and I think we all do realize it.

And as long as you're still a fan of a game where this kind of thing knowingly goes on, you have no business getting bent out of shape about a loogie in someone's grill.

IMO, spitting is mild compared to a thumb up my ass under a pile.

Should all of the above be punished with a 15-yard penalty if caught by the ref? Yes. But nobody has any business being morally outraged by a loogie. I find that ridiculous.

Nor should we care much. It is part of the game. Love or leave it is what I say. I love it. Go Taylor! Do whatever you can as long as you can stay in the game. Don't put yourself in another position to get jacked. Put youself in position to take guys out of the game.

Not true - the Fox redskins special discussed the incident in great detail and clearly showed Pittman wiping his lower face.

If he did, he didn't wipe it before Carey threw the flag. He must have let the loogie sit on his face. Which I find quite odd.

I think you're right...I believe they showed him wiping his face right after the flag was thrown. That loogie was on his face for a good 5-10 seconds. Pittman is a dirty f@cker! LOL

I hate belaboring this dam issue but why is it that everyone is acting like this definitely happened? I am not talking about people here because I think we have discussed it enough that it is obvious that it is disputed whetehr he actually spit or not. I am talking about the news media. There has been very little about Taylor denying that it happened and all the sports writes/commentators just comment like they saw clear visual evidence. If one of these idiots commentators would say "you know what? I didn't see him spit on the other guy and he says he didn't so lets not immediately assume it happened" I would be probably crap my pants. These guys are a joke. At least this should be discussed. It shouldn't be totally assumed that this happened when it has been disputed by the person accused.

Agreed. Everyone kind of said "Mike Carey the ref is a very upstanding man." So all of a sudden that meant he was right?? Did he see something, or did he THINK he saw something? He may be an upstanding guy, but upstanding people are capable of mistakes too.

i love sean taylor but come on guys,the ref was standing right there and i guarantee he saw it,why else would he call a penalty?guys are complaining about non calls all game long.if he didnt see it,he should be done refereeing playoff football.i thought the crew as a whole did a good job and let them play,for the most part
