I'm just happy that Fassel isn't the coach. Goooooo Zorn. This guy must be pretty impressive. I wonder what the Seahawks board has to say about all this! I gotta check.

it cracks me up how everyone is like "at least it wasn't Fassel." Its almost as if we could have hired a warm jar of mayonnaise and people would have said "welp...at least its not Fassel"

I would not have said that. Fassel is way better than Mayonnaise.

...It would've had to have been honey mustard. Then I'd be glad.

Given the Jon Gruden, Andy Reid, Steve Mariucci list of QB coaches under Holmgren to succeed in the NFL, I'm fine with the hire. The way it went down stinks of an unstable front office though. But I do think we could potentially have a good HC. The Holmgren tree is strong.

True. I checked out Seahawks Huddle - Home of the 12th Man :: Home and they wish Zorn well and think he'll do a decent job as a HC. They seem amazed that we even got him as a HC since they think our organization is "a mess".

I see your point, but you're a little off on the comparison.
Gruden was an OC of the Eagles under Rhodes before getting a HC position.
Reid was QB coach AND Asst. Head Coach before getting the HC position.
Mariucci was a QB coach for the Packers, but left to be the HC of the Cal Bears before getting hired as the HC of the 49ers.
Zorn was OC for Utah St., but never anything higher than QB coach in professional football, and never even a HC for any college team. So it's not really fair to compare those 3 coaches to Zorn, they took a completely different path and had more experience in a more important position with their respective teams.
I'm not saying Zorn will do poorly, but to compare him to others that coached with a higher rank is not a fair comparison.

well, I think it's better than Fassel, but a QB coach should never jump to HC. This is something that I am very shocked to hear, and curious as to why.

Andy Reid may disagree with you on that.

I'm not dead but this team is dead to me...but now that McCloughan is here they may have new life!

Jay Gruden = Zorny McSpurrier
Kirk Cousins = Next Grossman

I'm racking my brain trying to come up with any HC that was never any higher than QB coach at the professional level, and never any higher than OC on the college level. If you have some, I'd love to hear who they are, cause this seems almost unprecidented.

Andy Reid, discussed earlier in the thread.

But what's in a title? Don't know how his duties compared to Zorn's in Seattle. Plus, how many "assistant head coaches" did the Skins have last year? At least three, including Bugel.
