Now that we have gotten that cleared up. Who cares what Eli got? It's more money against their cap number. I wish that they would have given him even more now that I think about it.

Sorry if this is in the thread at an earlier post (I only read a few pages), how does everyone think this will impact JC's contract talks if he has a good year & we get to the playoffs?

I don't see JC getting as much, but I think JC is about on par w/Manning at this point but has more upside due to his running ability.

Oh no doubt. I'm glad they're overpaying him. He's just not worth it, that's all.

Absolutely. Haynesworth has been the best at his position the last 2 years and will have an immediate impact. He's earned it and will continue to do so. Throwing money at Eli doesn't make him any better. But really I couldn't care less what the Giants do with their money. Good move. Congratulations.

You're a funny dude Giantone. It's a shame you're a Giants fan. We all have character defects I guess. If you ever want to leave the darkside, you're welcome here.

Question?...Does anyone think that Eli is even a top 50 player in the league? Yet he is paid like the top dog! His jacked up contract is only gonna hurt us when JC out performs his ass this year and gets a big contract.

At least Haynesworth is without question the best player in the league at his position. Can't say that about Eli. Not even close really.

Uh... Eli is a pretty good quarterback. Look at the Giants record since he has been there.

I may be going out on a limb here, but I have an inkling the last thing that Daniel Snyder will do is give Campbell a hundred million dollar contract.

Re: Eli Manning's 6-Year, $97.5 Million Extension One of NFL's Biggest Deals

I think calling Eli a clutch quarterback is kinda simplifying the entire picture, in the sense that while Eli has been clutch in the past, mostly in regular season games, as well as in points of the '07 postseason including the Super Bowl, he's also had his share of bad performances as well.

I wouldn't say that Eli is a bad quarterback either. His career stats aren't that great but we all know they don't tell the whole story. Eli has led them to wins in games where they were behind, so he is clutch to a certain degree. But I'm not gonna call him clutch in the postseason considering every year besides '07 he has contributed to the Giants being one and done in the postseason. It's just in '07 he was good enough and he was a decent contributor to their Super Bowl run. You can't count him out simply because he was the guy that led them down the field when they absolutely had to score, and you can't also say the guy has been clutch every time they've needed him to be either. So basically he's a middle of the ground quarterback who's had his high moments and his low moments.

The only reason he got paid like an elite quarterback is the fact that his highest moment came at the right time on the biggest stage of the NFL. I'm sure that any other quarterback who did that and has had several clutch moments (mostly regular season though) would be getting paid like he did as well.
