Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday
I think Shanny wanted to give a playoff run a shot this year. Now that it is obvious that is not going to happen I am hopeful that this will begin a major overhaul for the whole team. I don't think Snyder brought Shanny in here for one year. It's not like we are throwing away a winning team, we didn't have much to start with as it is. All I have to say is this. Use the Raheem Morris model. Jettison vets and do a complete rebuild...

Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday
Maybe they've seen enough of McNabb all season to know that he isnt going to get any better, and he is allegedly injured (again). He is aging so they know that there was not much more to get out of McNabb than what we have already seen.
Rex Grossman over Donovan McNabb? Redskins have some explaining to do - Peter King - SI.com Great article here by Peter King. He basically says that Andy Reid and Mike Shanahan have gave McNabb the thumbs down. Also said that Washington was the only team interested in trading a high pick for the past-his prime QB. Oakland could have got him for a 4th rounder....

Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday
I read this in the wash posts' "DC Sports Bog" after the Detroit game. It's a very revealing read for those like me that have only watched Shanahan's career from afar until recently. Take a look, Shanahan has made pretty brash qb decisions over the years:
D.C. Sports Bog - A short history of Mike Shanahan benching his quarterback On a side note, this blog is becoming more newsworthy than Skins Insider. Steinberg's intent is humor, but in poking fun at things he actually does some research that brings things to light like this. |

Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday
Those of us that said this was not a good idea and to keep JC were right.Anyone could see it is the OL and getting a franchise QB was not the answer.Hopefully we can make a deal with someone like the Vikings so the Skins can fix the OL.

Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday
Check the McNabb is a Redskin thread, I was as against McNabb as anyone. BUT, JC was done here, if the cost was a 2nd and a 4th for the attention to finally move forward, and get a HC and GM who have no allegiances and no axe to grind then it was just a necessary cost of business. McNabb is who everyone thought he was, and that's what it cost to get an offseason of stability at the qb spot. Yeah, next year we will do it all again, but the fact that we are so drained still falls mainly on the triumvirate of DS/VC/JZ. Now, if next year we don't have a solid option at qb, and a stronger OL/DL then we can start looking at MS and BA, but for now, this is what a stealth rebuilding team looks like.

Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday
I don't understand why they couldn't understand from watching McNabb's time in Philly that his play was declining. If they had just done their homework on him we wouldn't have wasted a 2nd and a 4th. For all of you saying we lost a 3rd, no it was a 4th because he didn't meet any incentives. He's not going to the Pro Bowl, the Skins aren't making the SB, so it's a 4th rounder. Not that it matters anyways because the Saints are getting our 3rd rounder because of the J.Brown trade.

McNabb wasnt the same guy anymore. Age and Injuries ravaged him. After McNabb was put on the trade block, any smart team would have realized that Donovan only had 1 or 2 years left AT MAX. Donovan would have been best served on a team where all the pieces were there, and he could be a stopgap QB for 1 or 2 seasons. No one should have ever considered him the "solution" or worse yet, the "savior". He never had a chance for any real success here. We had no running game, no o-line, ho-hum receivers, and a below average defense. I feel sorry for Donovan, but he has had his day and in his day he was one of the top QB's in the NFL. I wish him luck for the future, i hope he has one more good season somewhere and then retires while he is still healthy...

Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday
I am not quite sure how benching a Named QB, and starting possible replacements to see how they do, is doing the same thing over and over. The only good thing about all of these recent moves is that clearly no-one is above reproach (except Rabach and those dang pictures). Yeah, it doesn't do good for PR purposes, and we still make headlines in bad ways, but nothing about this says accepting the status quo or DS makes the calls, and both of those are good things

it seems like since elway he has been on a search for perfection at the qb position, the only thing is not everyone is a hall of fame qb and sometimes you have to make it work with a guy with less than perfect talents. at some point you have to use whats around you and make it work.

Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday
Why not bench the whole offensive line for sucking all season. we suck and deserve all the criticism we get! We are a joke.

Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday
I guess Shanny thinks Rex know the Cowboys better than DM. Who gives us the better chance to win? Just a thought...
