Re: Around the NFL: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
I guess they have less than 15 minutes to do so.

Let's hope they forget. At this point he looks like our best option in the FA wide receiver market.

Re: Around the NFL: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
Looks like AZ's Levi Brown will hit the free agent market. From ESPN Rumors:
"Levi on the way out? 3:17 PM ET Levi Brown | Cardinals The way that the Arizona Cardinals' contract with OT Levi Brown was written, it was supposed to bring the two sides together prior to the final season on the books (which happens to be 2012), at which point they'd decide to re-negotiate or part ways. In other words, there's no way that Brown will be playing this fall under the current terms of his deal, causing a cap hit of nearly $17 million. The team and the Brown camp has been working to come to an agreement, but according to Jason La Canfora of NFL.com, those efforts have yet to yield a new deal, and it's likely that the team will release the OT and hit free agency. Interestingly enough, given the other LT options available this offseason, the 27-year-old Brown may be the most sought after. As for the Cardinals, they can shop for a veteran replacement, hope that a viable alternative lasts until the No. 13 overall pick or promote another option from within, with Rex Hadnot and D'Anthony Batiste as possibilities. - Tim Kavanagh

Crap, does this mean they'll franchise Garcon? Wayne?
Albert Breer @AlbertBreer RT @bkravitz Just in: Colts and Robert Mathis have reached a tentative agreement on a long-term contract. He will not be franchised.

Update on Mathis....
Albert Breer @AlbertBreer Can confirm Robert Mathis and Colts have agreed to terms on a deal. Club will tag him to provide time to work out the final details. So Garcon and Wayne are officially on the market.

Re: Around the NFL: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
They were working out a deal at the 11th hour with Mathis and seemed to have run out of time, so they tagged him as a precaution.

Re: Around the NFL: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
right, but having already agreed to terms, the tag smells like distrust

Re: Around the NFL: 2012 Off-Season-Free Agency/Trades
Yeah but basically it wasn't official what they had agreed to, and the Colts didn't want to risk losing Mathis because of technicalities and whatnot. It sounded like they did this as a precaution.
