I think that you are correct, which would make the Dallas strategy a boneheaded one. Was it really that hard to guess that SF would use its many picks to try to replace Goldston?

Yeah they had been saying Dallas wanted Reid or vaccaro. Overall I think we'll look back in a couple years and only find a few guys that are really good pros. And I believe most are lineman. I'm still surprised Manuel went so high.

I can't get past the EJ Manuel pick...what a terrible decision. They genuinely scared they couldn't get him in the 2nd?. What a waste of value

Agreed.

Even if scared, trade down and pick up the extra pick. Even if you fire sale it (see Oakland), get what you can. Who was picking a QB after them? All the teams needing QB's are at the top of the draft - tonight, we could get 4 or 5 QB's in the first 15 picks.

I kind of hope not, I want a solid QB to be there when we select so that we can move back a bit.

Yeah, I hope Smith is sitting there when we are on the clock.

Either way I think it's a win for us. A run on QB's means lots of talent for us to choose from or as trade bait for others wishing to move up. No QB run creates a lot of pressure and trade potential.

Actually, I am thinking the way the first played out really helps us. Most of the safety and cornerback talent still up there. Lots of offense attractive to other teams. Only O-line and D-line have been picked over at this point. While we have a need at RT, don't think anyone is worth our second right now given the other talent on the board. I see a bunch of trades as teams start looking for point producers.

I agree about the 1st round, I think it will leave us with some good choices at 51. I could see us using a late round pick to jump up before the cowboys, because they will be looking at similar positions as us. In terms of the RT, if Armstead is there, I think he would be a good fit and reasonable value at 51.

This is very true. And I completely agree, the first round probably couldn't have played out better for us than it did.

ROFL. I loved when the reporter asked them if they got short changed on the trade based on the draft chart. Jerry didn't even answer as Jason and Steven jumped in to save his ass. To top it off, Steven had the audacity to say he got better than what the draft chart projected.

I'd be furious if I were a Cowboys fan. To have a owner and front office to sit there and lie right to the fans face about the trade value when everybody can plainly see they could have gotten more. The New England trade with Minnesota showed that.
