Redskins WR Leonard Hankerson injures hamstring in Friday practice - Richmond Times-Dispatch
Hank is injuried. Questionable for the game. And Kai still not kicking.

Well, I feel like if the Redskins don't press Calvin Johnson some this weekend, they are going to be in for a long day.

CJ is 6'5. Wilson is 5'9. CJ runs a 4.3 40 yard. Wilson runs a ??? lol I don't think the dude can do it. D Hall may be able to keep up speed wise but his coverage blows.

Re: Washington Redskins vs Detroit Lions Pregame Thread
Had Crawford not gotten hurt, I think he would have worked his way into the starting spot with Amerson. His injury and Thomas's injury and Merriweather's inability to play more than 11 minutes don't help.

Re: Washington Redskins vs Detroit Lions Pregame Thread
Seems like a couple of teams each year switch to the 3-4. Not sure why it's viewed as some sort of crazy idea.

Re: Washington Redskins vs Detroit Lions Pregame Thread
The reason the Skins struggle on D is not because of the 3-4.
If the Skins couldn't tackle or cover in a 3-4... what makes people think they would be able to cover or tackle in a 4-3. Still the same players having to make the same kind of plays. |

Re: Washington Redskins vs Detroit Lions Pregame Thread
This I agree with. The 3-4 is quite successful in the league, so it's not an issue with the defensive set up. Players have to tackle, it's as simple as that.

I'm amazed that some people are still hung up on the 3-4. Talent & execution always brings the most out of a scheme. |

Re: Washington Redskins vs Detroit Lions Pregame Thread
Defense was 28th last year in yards, and has 2 rookies starting in the secondary. We had no cap space to do anything. I'm not sure why anyone thought they would even be middle of the pack. Getting back cap space hopefully means more veterans competing for jobs next year.

I don't really agree with skip bayless on most things but I agree with most of the things he said in this article.

This article is a lot of conjecture and Bayless stirring the pot, as much of the media has done on the RG3 issue all off-season because it generates hits and ratings. Here's the bottom line, RG3 has the passing ability to be one of the best of all-time, without the Read-Option. As I've said many time before, if we had a HC and OC who could scheme a productive NFL offense we would thrive on O (now we have the franchise QB, so that excuse is gone). Imagine a Patriots or Saints type offense....with Brady or Brees being able to run a 4.4.....good luck stopping that. The RO has been figured out by NFL DCs and the increase of risk to a franchise QB is not worth the reward of increased YPG until you get inside the 10. Inside the 10 the compressed field takes away the main advantages of the RO. Unfortunately there's a disconnect somewhere in Redskins Park. and my suspicion is either we don't have the X & O firepower that can teach the advanced NFL passing game, the coaches have misconceptions of RG3's abilities, or the coaches are so hard-headed that they think what worked 15 yrs ago in Denver and 5 years ago in Houston will work here, today. Probably a combination of all three. Ooops I forgot, I want RG3 to fail and Cousins to be put in anyway

I think the RO is hard to stop, but made much easier when the QB isn't healthy to be a threat to run. So we kind of take ourselves out of the RO. What do you mean about Houston? Are you talking about zone blocking? Houston has never skipped a beat even after Kyle left. |
