Re: First place Redskins
One thing that I forget about. This team has stonewalled a substantial number of goal line and 4th down stands this season......
nice

Love how he assumes Romo would have won so many games. What a jackass. How about our countless injuries? Also he talks about our mediocre team but fails to mention we have been a completely different team the second half of the season. Its an obvious progression. |

Also, yes, there has been progression clearly. In our Oline, our secondary, most obviously QB and Head Coach, and now the Front 7 on D are even starting to have more of an impact. The only area we have regressed in is our running game, and as you mentioned, we have had our share of injuries that have contributed to that. Romo certainly would have had an impact on this season, and for the sake of argument lets just say he would have carried his clearly otherwise awful team to the playoffs. Even if that is the case, isn't that an indictment on their organization for not having a decent enough backup QB for their clearly injury prone starter? Or some kind of succession plan? At least the Redskins had a backup plan for if RG3's injury prone ass busted. The window has closed on Romo, he choked early in his career, and he's tough, but his body just can't hold up to the beating it takes. 3 years in a row now he has had major injuries, and in 2010 he missed 10 games. Seriously, how do you not have a backup plan for him? Especially when apparently your entire season hinges on the production at the QB position. With all that said, yeah the Redskins are clearly still mediocre and have benefited from unusually bad seasons by their division rivals, but why not mention the progression and the seeming change in trajectory under the current leadership? Unless of course you are a Cowboys homer.

And this whole "what if" about romo is tiring. If florio wants to talk actual facts we can..,Dallas is a seriously flawed team..little to none running game..zero to none receivers outside of dez...they can't rush the passer(randy Gregory, hardy haven't brought a desired impact) and they are worst in the league in creating turnovers....and yes their gm refuses to invest in a back up qb for romo who has an injury history. I'd rather talk facts and honest analysis about football, than read this fairy florio who is more tmz than john keim. |

Re: First place Redskins
The article is ridiculous to begin with due to the fact that playoffs or not this team has shown improvement. 7-7 after 14 games is a big improvement for this team regardless of the playoffs themselves were ever part of the picture.
Every single season this situation arises in one or more divisions. It's not this team's fault that Jerry Jones is relying on a middle-aged injury prone QB to anchor his team and that his cocky approach to depth rendered his team limp once Romo went down. Tons of teams lose their starting QB for multiple games and the teams don't go on to perform as horribly as the Cowboys did in the same situation. The biggest issue I have is Florio acting like the success or failure of this season suddenly hinges on us making a playoff spot when he predicted this team to be the worst in the league. Sorry, but at no time this season, even in their losses, did they look like the worst team in the league. |

I wonder what he had to say about the 7-8-1 Panthers last year who won their division.
