This is the way I've always seen it. Safeties should be the last resort, if they are making lots of tackles it means your front end is getting burned. But I'll give him credit for at least making tackles, I've seen our safeties bouncing off enough players to know we can't take tackling for granted.

I would not mind Pettine at all. Of all the names mentioned he'd be second after Wade to me. He has had some solid defenses at every stop, NY Jets, Buffalo, and Cleveland

Everything has been silent since the Redskins have interviewed Mike Pettine. I know Gruden wants to take his time and get this right, but there's a fine line between taking your time and allowing your best choices to slip out of your hands. He's gotta be somewhat aggressive in getting that position filled.

Once again Jay Gruden fails to effectively manage the clock!

I appreciate the due diligence. No need to rush the decision without even talking with all the candidates he may be interested in. Don't think they have even talked with Bradley yet, or Phillips (if they are interested - haven't hear that they are).

That's what I mean. Do they even have anything scheduled with Bradley or Phillips yet? Probably not Phillips since things are still up in the air with Denver's head coaching spot. I'm all for the Redskins interviewing everyone that could essentially upgrade the defense, but I hope they're actually making an effort in getting these guys in for interviews. I know it's only been a week since they cut Barry and the others loose, but a lot can change within a week's time.

Can't assume that all the candidates the fans are interested in, or all the candidates Jay is interested in, even want a job with the Redskins. It's a two-way street, and like you said, it's only been about a week since most of their seasons ended. These guys all have lives, and schedules to work with, families to talk things over with...possibly other teams to reach out to. I'm fairly confident they are working in a methodical manner to improve the team as best they can. Give it a minute

True. I just don't want the Redskins to wind up with Joe Barry 2.0. Or maybe Haslett 2.5?

Quick side note: who did you dislike more? Haslett or Barry?
