Re: Redskins vs. Dolphins predictions
Some interesting info, some I knew, some I have forgot about, and some is interestingly new info for me to ponder and share......
I.E. Cam Cameron coached ARE (when he was the QB for the hoosiers) (from redskins.com) Miami Dolphins head coach Cam Cameron will coach his first game as an NFL head coach. He was previously offensive coordinator with the San Diego Chargers. Cameron served as the Redskins' quarterbacks coach under Norv Turner from 1994-96. He helped develop the skills of QBs Gus Frerotte, a Pro Bowler in 1996, and Trent Green. From 1997-2001, Cameron was head coach at Indiana University. Among his players was current Redskins wide receiver Antwaan Randle El, who played quarterback for the Hoosiers. -- FAMILIAR FACES ON THE DOLPHINS Head coach Cam Camerion served as Redskins quarterbacks coach from 1994-96. Linebackers coach George Edwards was defensive coordinator for the Redskins in 2003. He was assistant defensive coordinator and linebackers coach for the Redskins in 2002. Running backs coach Bobby Jackson was the running backs coach from the Redskins from 1994-99. Wide receivers coach Terry Robiskie was a Redskins interim head coach for three games in 2000, taking over the position after Norv Turner was let go by the team midseason. Robiskie served as wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator for the Redskins from 1994-2000. Head strength and conditioning coach Matt Schiotz spent the 2001 season with the Redskins as an assistant strength and conditioning coach. Quarterback Trent Green served as Redskins reserve quarterback from 1995-97. In 1998, Green started 14 games for the Redskins and completed 278-of-509 passes for 3,441 yards, 23 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

The line certainly plays a huge role in stymying offensive linemen and holding firm at the line of scrimmage, but the LBs play just as big a role. Mainly, the middle LB on both teams, Zach Thomas and London Fletcher, will play a big role in aligning the defensive line before the snap. And then the quickness of the LB corps and their abilities to avoid blockers as they run to the ball plays into it. I'd modify your stance to say it's RB vs front 7. Stalemate for both teams. But the Redskin offensive line is much more talented - it's just a matter of whether they can come together for this game. If Kendall and Samuels get on the same page, it's advantage Redskins. But in addition, you have to factor the secondary vs the WRs in the run defense equation. The Dolphins have no scary WRs, unless Ginn becomes the next Randy Moss. You're going to see LaRon Landry in the box a whole lot on Sunday - because I don't think Trent Green is scaring anybody. If Miami tries to load the box against Jason Campbell, I PROMISE you he will make you pay. Luckily for Miami, they have Jason Taylor, and can probably rush Campbell pretty well with just the front 4. I see a close game, but the advantage goes to the Skins.

Re: Redskins vs. Dolphins predictions
"Schlesinger, Hakim among Dolphins' cuts
Posted: Burger @ Sun Sep 02, 2007 8:21 am PalmBeachPost.com Reports: The Miami Dolphins, long considered an aging team without enough developing players, took another step in a continuing youth movement as the team settled on its 53-man roster. On Saturday, the Dolphins terminated the contracts of 35-year-old fullback Cory Schlesinger and 30-year-old wide receiver Az Hakim - the biggest names among the 22 players the franchise released. The Dolphins' current roster includes 25 players who haven't made an NFL start, including 13 rookies - 10 of them making up the 2007 draft class. Of the 53 players, 28 were not on the team's final 2006 roster." So, what's this mean?? Tells me that trying to predict how the Fins will do is a problem for everyone (us included). 28 new players, 25 non-starters and 13 rookies means trying to make plans very difficult for Joe and company. IMHO what we ought to do is ignore the Fin's "capabilities" and prepare to blast them from here to eternity with te o'line, Portis, Betts, Cooley, etc...If that doesn't work- we go to our "finesse" game with the wideouts. If that doesn't work, then Miami deserves to win... |

You think the Dolphins offense can score 24 against ANYONE, let alone a D as good as ours. Thanks for the laugh. |

Re: Redskins vs. Dolphins predictions
If they're not, our LBs are. If anything the Skins have added this year it's a LOT of speed in the backfield. All our DTs have to do is slow him up.

Re: Redskins vs. Dolphins predictions
I think when fans from other teams come on with intelligent thoughts then it really adds to the site.

Re: Redskins vs. Dolphins predictions
Well the reality is that you can say the same for the "regulars" on this site. We have a lot of great perspectives, but at the same time we have our fair share of ignorance.
