But on the 2nd play? Smoot should have provided help over top.

Re: Landry is now a bust!

i think LL could be a great wrecking ball of a SS. i think weve all known that LL is best suited to play his natural college position of SS and not FS.

even with his solid deep cover skills he kept up all of last year.

he has to be moved to SS, to bad springs isnt around to be the FS.

Re: Landry is now a bust!

^ i agree, and i don't know how you can watch that video and not think both td's were all on landry biting on a double move.

the first was his hands down and it was a terrible move he bit on. the second was actualy a great move on meechams part but to say that over top across the middle was smoots responsibility, isn't right, landry was the help and he let the wideout burn him yet again.

and after watching those plays again i don't see how he can't get benched after los got benched for pretty much the same thing

Re: Landry is now a bust!

Kareem Moore doesn't have the speed, or range as they say, that LL does. But he might be better suited to playing deep in cover 2, so long as he doesn't try & get extra yardage on int. returns!

Landry's talent & ability are working against him similar to ST's early days when he liked to gamble a lot. If Rogers can be sat down for repetitive biting, I would say Landry should've been sat down long ago, at least for a few plays so that the staff can talk to him. Maybe that's already been done? If so, he isn't learning.

Re: Landry is now a bust!

Landry's not playing great right now and didn't help when the redskins defense allowed the big plays. But he is not a bust. A bust is a player that is expected to be great, but doesn't contribute at all. Landry contributes to this team.

He needs to make some major adjustments to his game at FS, but it's too extreme to call him a bust.

being selected 6th overall means alot more than just contributing, if he doesn't improve alot next year then he will be a bust because we could have gotten alot more of a contributor with that pick

Some recent busts for the redskins were Taylor Jacobs, Desmond Howard, Heath Shuler, Brandon Lloyd, and Adam Archuletta. I don't think Landry is in that category. I understand that you don't think that he's playing well, but I think you use the word- bust - too lightly.

I think alot of folks suffer from a very loose interpretation of what bust really means.

Re: Landry is now a bust!

This is the first time I have ever heard the "where was the help argument" to defend a free safety from his absolute number one responsibility.

It's quite simply one of the worst football related arguments I have ever seen in all my life.

Maybe Albert Haynesworth should have given
Laron "Responsibilty is not what I do" Landry help over the top.

Landry is quite simply the most undisciplined player in the entire NFL.

Please put him at SS or trade him. Right now he is a massive liabilty to the team.

Re: Landry is now a bust!

if he plays like this next year and doesn't learn from his mistakes, then he will be a bust and i'm not using the term to lightly

out of the 2007 1st rounders there are 8 probowlers 6 were selected after landry, including a cornerback and a safety

not to mention adrian peterson was drafted right after him

i'm not sayin he is a bust right now, but if he doesn't make vast improvements by next year you bet your ass he is a bust

Re: Landry is now a bust!

He can continue on his current course and he will never be considered a bust, sorry. Busts don't rack up 12 tackles, 1 sack, and 3 pass defenses in a game. If he was a bust he wouldn't even be on the field.

Correct.

He's far from a bust. He played very well overall in that last game except for the big plays he gave up.

He's undisciplined and a little inconsistent, but nowhere close to being a bust. For every bad play he gives up or mistake he makes, he'll have 10 good ones that go unnoticed.

Re: Landry is now a bust!

i'm considering the pick a bust, yeah landry is a damn good player, needs coaching but pretty damn good, but as far as the pick is concerned it will be a bust if there isn't vast improvement next year.

he is a middle of the pack saftey in the nfl right now, being selected in the top ten he should be better.

if he had been selected in the second round or even in the high 20's this wouldn't even be a question right now

I think you have a different perception of what a "bust" means compared to what I think a "bust" means. His play may be disappointing at times, but I don't consider him being a bust right now.

A "bust" to me is a player that is basically worthless or a detriment to the team; a player that could be cut and you wouldn't notice a difference (or going the other way, noticing the team is playing better).

we obviously do, i just think the pick was a bust, like i said if he was picked in the upper 20's this thread wouldn't exist
