Lorenzo Alexander once covered Brian Westbrook on a pass thrown 35 yards downfield.

I mean, aside from the fact that he strained his hammy on the play and missed the rest of the year (just the SF game), versatility has always been a major strength of his.

Wouldn't be all that surprised if neither makes the final roster, and they just go with Chunky and Sexy. I also wouldn't be surprised if the JaMarcus Junkies get an opportunity.

I've heard nothing but good things about FD all spring/summer

I'd say with the JaMarcus Junkies problems following the law and his pending legal matters he probably doesn't have much of a shot. I could see them going with Chunky and Sexy, but what happens when Chunky and Sexy go down? They could trade for an established vet like the Dandy Delhomme, if he burns out in Cleveland after about 4 starts, or we could look to bring in somebody currently on the streets/UFL, like a Culpepper Coalition.

Walk-through ends first two-a-day practice

The Washington Redskins completed their first day of two-a-day practices with a low-key, low-intensity walk-through.

Players rarely needed to do more than a jog lightly during the session as the offense and defense worked through shadow drills on separate fields. They came together only for some special teams work. The practice lasted about an hour.

After the practice, defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth worked with defensive line coach Jacob Burney on a side field.

This is John Clayton's observation on the Redskins defense. I hope this is right:

3. How will the switch to the 3-4 defense work? Normally, I'm skeptical predicting success for teams that switch from a 4-3 to a 3-4 because too many of late have failed. In recent years, the Chargers, Packers and Cowboys have made the smoothest transition. The Redskins might head the next group. The reason is the bulk along the three-man line. Haynesworth might have the biggest salary, but Kemoeatu is the key. At 350 pounds, he has to draw double-team blocks to free up the linebackers, and the more he plays, the less Haynesworth will be asked to serve at the nose. Don't underestimate Haynesworth's impact, either. Haynesworth was part of a Redskins defense that gave up only 2.9 yards a carry when he was on the field but 4.0 when he was off it. For ends, defensive coordinator Jim Haslett has 310-pound Phillip Daniels and 315-pound Adam Carriker. Backup nose tackle Kedric Golston is 310. Also around are Vonnie Holliday and Jeremy Jarmon. Haslett plans to use the Steelers' aggressive form of the 3-4 with plenty of blitzing and not locking linemen into being two-gap wrestling bears at the line. Brian Orakpo should be a Pro Bowl pass-rusher at linebacker. The surprise is Lorenzo Alexander being ahead of Andre Carter on the strong side. Carter can be the third-down rusher. There are certain lineups in which the Redskins can get more than six former first-rounders on the field.

Watching the defensive linemen running through drills, I noticed that Jeremy Jarmon is working with them.

He was listed as a linebacker heading into training camp, but he has bulked up to 286 pounds and is now listed as a defensive end.

Jarmon could develop into a swing player. He has versatility and could slide inside to play nose tackle in pass rushing situations."

I'm pretty sure Carter will see his fair share of plays. Oftentimes, they rotate players in for certain packages.

Shanny has said he may go with just two QB's, so it's like you said earlier, both Colt and Bart could be on the outside looking in.

On a side note: SS we need you to use your POI along with your connections in the area to lobby for the bleachers to return to Redskin Park. I know it's not exactly your expertise but I've been lobbying to no avail. I'm an old man and diabetic, standing for long periods of time does absolutely nothing for me. j/k of course, but it worth a try ha!!
