re: The never ending Jason Campbell player haters ball
Buddy Ryan was known to have racist tendencies. Just ask David Duerson. However, i think that was a reflection of that time in the NFL, and not so much Buddy Ryan the person.

This thread will probably go away as soon as Campbell proves us all wrong....
Which means thewarpath.net will win the award of the longest continued thread on the web.....

re: The never ending Jason Campbell player haters ball
Yeah and I also noticed how you pasted the article right after you said what you said. But let's get to your point. It wasn't an illegal formation just the wrong formation. QB's that know their playbook can make adjustments at the line. OR if you know what formation you are supposed to be in, you can call a timeout. Sort of like if you see that a blitz is coming you can change the protection, which is something else that he doesn't like to do.
You're right that many QB's make the mistakes that Jason makes, but the good ones have more positives. And until he finds a way to have more of those, then he'll ride the pine.

Because if he were playing well in Oakland there would be one about that, only it would be at about 30 pages by now.

Is JC a great QB? Nope. But the fact remain JC is what he's is and unless you're one of those peoples that disregards stats JC was the 15th rated QB in the NFL under quite possibly the worst set of circumstances a QB can have. (As opposed to Palmer who was the 16th rated QB and put up identical numbers despite have every benefit that Campbell lacked.) Now i don't know about you but if you traded for a QB would you put him in a situation that would help him win? Does pulling him after a game and a half then changing the playcalling style to make the 2nd more comfortable strike you as the way to go about it? The 2nd QB who had the benefit of better pass protection? Q: Bruce was not sacked in the second half. Was that a function of offensive line play, mobility or both? Cable: I think a little bit of both, but I thought we cleaned up some things. He got flushed twice, but I thought we cleaned up some things in terms of blitzes. We talked all week, the quarterback would have to handle that overload pressure sometimes and either get it out of his hand or get himself in a better play, better protection, and I felt that other than the one free hitter on Jason early in the game, we just missed an assignment there, but really, Veldheer got beat the one time, other than it was kind of normal play back and forth. But I do think we adjusted well and I think we handled the pressures better. Q: It appeared Jason had deeper routes and Bruce had shorter routes . . . (30gut-deeper rights although the pass protection wasn't great does that sound good to you?) Cable: Early, that’s true because we wanted to get him started right but we were still throwing the deep balls and the go-routes, the big daggers and those things, so it probably went back to more the same. But early, yeah, we wanted to get him in there and get him started and let him make some quick plays and see if he could get everyone’s confidence going. (30gut-Why not do this same thing for Campbell^^ to start the game? But there's more.....) Q: How much does who is at quarterback influence the play-calling? Cable: Well, for us, I don’t think it matters for either guy. I think it’s just the situation of bringing a guy off the bench at halftime and you want to get him something quick and easy and get him started. But you do that periodically throughout the game and I think every team, when you kind of feel a lull, you might get some quick balls or maybe some no-huddle, trying to change momentum a little bit. So I just think it’s a product of that more than anything. (30gut-Again why not do that with Campbell?) JC is in a tough spot in Oakland and its gonna take a lot to make it work. He's seemingly caught in a power struggle between the HC and owner. |

That article is load of bull because it cites stats, but doesn't comment on how the QB was playing with regards to all the other throws he was attempting.
Flacco threw 4 picks, but he also came out of the gate with a TD drive to begin the second half against a good defense.

As the Cowpukes have shown, you won't get anywhere with a terrible offensive line. Unless you have an elite QB like Rodgers or P. Manning or Brees. Then again, Al Davis runs that team, so this whole mess is not surprising.

Although it doesn't use his strengths Campbell ,at least in my opinion, proved that he can execute a 3-5 step drop passing game with effeciency that's a positive from his time in Washington he improved as quick rhythm timing QB b/c Zorn and the lack of pass protection forced him. Look at Campbells play when Bingo Lewis was calling plays. |
