Re: The Big Rumor: If The Colts Take Luck, Then Manning Could Be...

Just heard this morning that Peyton Manning has stated he will ask for a trade if the Colts draft Andrew Luck. So i guess it is official. Let the Manning watch begin. Assuming he ends up being able to physically play again, where is his most likely destination?

I personally feel that Washington, Miami, New York, and San Fran are very likely destinations. Even as Redskins fans, we have to at least consider that Snyder has thought about what it would take to get Manning.

There are a lot of positives for him here if he can play one or two more years. The skins could become instant superbowl contenders while still letting a young QB learn from the games best.

It's not worth it. We'd have to give up too much to get him. It'll only take one good hit to end his career too. It's not worth the risk. Why end the rebuild a third of the way through completion?

There's no way Manning and Luck co-exist in Indy. Nothing personal between them but there's no way Luck is willing to sit or Manning willing to share. This is going to get really interesting mid-March because Manning won't renegotiate the $28 million due to him without an assurance they won't draft Luck and Luck will force a trade if Manning is still on the roster come draft day.

As for the Redskins, I'm 100% opposed to Manning suiting up for us.

The problem is what ever happened to the statement that P.Manning takes a hit the wrong way he might be paralized? that came from somewhere... his doctor, the team, the media. How much truth was in that statement?

I guess I'm saying will P.Manning even be able to play? Will a doctor clear him to play? trust me I'd love to have his brain here with the Skins as either a QB or coach but after the early reports we have not heard anything about where his status is and it might be he doesn't get cleared and he has to hang up the cleats. So if we could get him cheap then I hope the Skins pick him up but I'd bet the Colts would want to get something for him and will keep his status a secret just to get a reward.

Can the coaching change for the Skins be that they are firing the QB coach and bringing in P.Manning as our QB coach? I'd be thrilled.

Yes i agree with you on all points. I firmly 100% believe that Peyton will never, ever, be full health again. I also beleive that he will attempt a comeback, but it will end badly, with him either not passing a team physical, or him getting out on the field and just looking like a shell of what he was. Worst case scenario is that he suffers another neck injury.

My statement earlier was saying that "IF", and it's a big IF. IF Peyton is able to physically play and be what he was before, he would be huge here to hold us down at QB for a year or so until a young gun QB is ready to take over.

I personally want to see Peyton go the safe route and go into coaching, but the media pressure with this thing right now is unbelievable. I never even beleived we would ever be talking about the Colts trading Manning, but knowing the Redskins, and knowing Snyder, it at least has to be mentioned that he could end up here.

Manning might be beginning his coaching career at this rate. He only recently was declared healthy enough for another surgery back in early December. Not workouts but another surgery. And words like neck fusion don't exactly inspire confidence. Personally Manning should quit while he's ahead. He has the mind to continue his football life as a coach.

Are you saying that if the Redskins get Peyton Manning and keep the core of this roster as it is, they would become superbowl contenders in 2012?

If so, may I suggest that whatever you are ingesting into your bloodstream at the moment has to be illegal...

I'm not talking about Clausen as the main guy. That's not being considered

That's what he is. He couldn't hold off Matt Moore when he was starting in Carolina, and didn't see the field this season. He's a backup at this point for sure. He's young with upside, so I wouldn't mind him on the roster. I think if we draft a QB, keep Rex, and add a 3rd guy like Clausen, it's ideal.

Its not hard for me to believe that Clausen could perform well in this offense and challenge for the starting job if invited to camp.
Look, if we don't draft a QB we're talking about beating out Rex Grossman. The same Rex Grossman that barely beat out a 3rd string QB with no mini-camp or OTAs last year.
Clausen is easily more physically talented then Rex Grossman.
I'm not fickle enough to believe the book of Clausen's career is written after 14 starts and I didn't even like him very much as a prospect coming out.

Heck, we should have gone after him last year.

Sanchez is being clowned right now. No respect. Makes me think of Jason Campbell...
