There's too much time between now and the playoffs to be saying we're contenders already. But if we head into the playoffs completely healthy, and have a few balls bounce our way, playing in the Super Bowl is very possible. But I think you and JoeR are getting excited too early.

We are going to kick ass all year long. Therefore it is perfectly acceptable to be excited in week one.

There may be a lot of time between now and then, but there are a few teams right now that I consider contenders for the Super Bowl. And as of now we are one of them. We all know that a lot of things need to fall in place for any SB team by the time the playoffs roll around, but I still believe we have a chance.

Not an Oak type chance but a ATL or SEA type chance to get to the game. We could be great.

Eh...like I said, if RG3 and all the other key players are healthy, and we have a bit of luck, I'm not going to argue that we have as good a chance as Seattle. But we're just not quite to the level of Atlanta, San Francisco, New England, or Denver yet. Next year, I like our chances a lot better: we'll have signed some good FAs, RG3 and Morris will be improved, Phillip Thomas and Richard Crawford will be healthy, and we'll have another draft to add talent.

Once you get into the playoffs, though, anything can happen. If it were a 7 game series like the NBA, we wouldn't have a chance this year. But NFL playoffs are all about momentum and who-wants-it-the-most. So I'm definitely not counting us out.

I am not excited. I am incredibly calm. Hand-wringing naysayers can tear at their garments, gnash their teeth and cover their heads in ash as they moan their doubts.

I believe, my brother, and I am at peace with the joy faith brings. Join me.

Can I get an amen?!

No, but in all seriousness, I agree. I can't help but be excited. I too believe we're contenders.

Great Boswell article, I couldn't agree more.

Should the very worst happen and our franchise QB get a season ending injury on MNF, we can still be a playoff team.

No, I did NOT just say Jehovah. Put the rocks down.

Re: Skins vs Eagles week 1

In all seriousness, read the quotes from the offensive players in this article: Teammates Not Worried About Griffin III. Everyone is encouraging supporting and leading as appropriate. I know a lot of quotes are canned/forced by the team to fit the narrative etc, but damn if Griffin doesn't sound like the leader of this team and everyone ready to pull together.
