The Ravens essentially paired the NFL's seventh-highest-paid player with a bargain-basket offense. I don't know that seems like a issue, not saying its the only issue. Just saying its a large contributing factor to the decline of the Ravens since their 2013 SB.

Is Flacco really that bad? Look at what's around him.

Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
What is around him is because of his contract and they have been this year at least very snake bitten on injuries.
https://www.si.com/nfl/2017/10/26/mi...mqb-newsletter Flacco has been on the decline though since the SB.

Just because rocnrik has your panties in a bunch doesn't mean their isn't validation to the argument that Flacco's contract has hurt the Ravens.
The reason those articles you posted were written is because everyone keeps pointing out here in B-more how bad the ROI is on his contract. If you disagree so be it.

Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
Sorry, it just hasn’t been the main factor. Believing so is very short sighted. They’ve been able to make plenty of moves, they just haven’t drafted well as of late and injuries have hurt them.

Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
I wore panties once. In college, in the middle of hooking up with a chick and she just stopped and said we are not going any farther unless i put on her panties. Needless to say, I didnt hesitate.
re ravens - they have huge dead money issues but that didnt stop them from signing Weedle, Tony Jefferson, re-sign brandon williams .. of course they had to let osmele go. Also ozzie has drafted horribly. i cant think of a single 1 or 2nd rounder that is contributing.

Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
We seem to be talking about two different things. Is Flacco worth the money right now given how poorly he’s playing? Hell no.
Is his contract the reason they’re not competitive? No. Has his contract severely restricted the teams’ ability to make moves? Another hell no. |

Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
Flacco's contract is not helping. Matty I wholeheartedly agree with you that it is not preventing them from being good. If you're going to carry a very heavy QB contract, it means you've got to draft well to make up for it. If you don't draft well, you're left with little cap space to make up for it.
Drafting well is job 1, but if you fail at it you'd like to have cap space to try to make up for it. It's simple risk management. Overpaying a QB like Flacco removes your margin for error. You either draft well during the heavy QB contract, or you are stuck with sucking. You have no recourse. That Ravens situation still shouldn't be applied to the Redskins and Cousins blindly though, simply because I think Cousins is better than Flacco. But signing Cousins to a highest-paid-player type contract is akin to pushing all your chips to the center of the table. You're saying I'm going to draft well for the next 5 years to keep my roster stocked and support my QB who needs the support, and if I don't, then we suck. Teams with QBs like Brady, Rodgers and Wentz don't have to think that way. If they miss on some picks in the draft, their QB can still pull a rabbit out of a hat. I still can't make up my mind on Cousins. No matter what you're pushing a boulder up a hill. Let him go and you start the process to find a new QB, which can take 20 years. Keep him, and you start the process of being perfect in the draft for the next 5 years. Hard choice.
