Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
After a good night sleep and watching that first hard knocks episode I am more excited about this. I think Irsay is a fucking idiot and to blame the Colts collapse solely on Carson is just dumb.
In the end unless we win the draft lottery on a QB no one really much better then Carson is coming here and lets be honest if he was cut from Indy he wasn't picking us. Honestly instead of focusing on getting a franchise QB through trade/FA the Commanders should go out dumb a ton of money into the best QB scout there is and have him/her find us the next Joe Burrow or that late round Russell Wilson.

Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
It's not just the Jacksonville game. When you have two teams give up on you in two years that is just a huge huge red flag. You can say it was all Irsay to make your argument but the GM didn't give him an endorsement either. Someone was saying that Ballard told Wentz that he "misses the easy routine plays, he's misses the layups."
I see why Ron did what he did. I understand it, I just don't agree w/ it. Wentz simply isn't a good enough player anymore IMO to warrant the draft capital and the salary. It was an overpay and it was a move of a desperate coach. One third rounder would have been fair. But if he plays 70% which he most likely will then it's a second. I don't agree w/ that. Too much for a guy who would have been on the street next week. |

Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
You're always going to pay a premium in a trade for a QB. Always.
If he hits the street as a free agent your chance of getting him goes down significantly. Desperate move? Of course it's fucking desperate, are we forgetting what a joke we've been at QB since Kirk left? Couple that with a weak QB class and yeah, of course Ron was desperate to upgrade at QB. Wentz has a lot to prove this year, if he blows it his starting days are probably done. |

Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
The available vet QB situation is getting grim. Jimmy G Winston and maybe Mariota. And the Bucs Saints Steelers all need a QB. If we kept waiting we were going to be out in the cold.
My belief is the front office did their homework and when Wilson decided not to come they pulled the trigger on their next choice. Good Carson is a top tier QB. Bad Carson is Taylor Heineke with a better arm Got texts from all my non skin friends yesterday that all had some version of congratulations with a ? Kind of sums it up for me Now go get Wagner or draft the Utah or Georgia ILB and let’s roll |

Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
Saying Wentz is an improvement over TH is like saying Rex Grossman is an improvement over John Beck.

Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
This!! I don’t think many here watched his last 3 games collapse, he made Heinecken look like Joe Montana. Another issue with Wentz is, he’s always hurt.

Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
While he has had some injuries, I believe he's only missed 8 games due to injury in 6 years. He has been available.

Re: Welcome Carson Wentz
Again, I'm not cheering the move at all, but I don't get everyone that is insisting on hating it. So what are the options?
- Do you trade a 2nd or potential 1st for Jimmy G and give him 30 mil a year with a lot of guaranteed money to do more or less the same that Wentz? - Do you give Winston/Mariota/Trubisky 10-20 mil a year with at least 2-years of guaranteed money? And don't come with your stupid cheap fan contracts, because we all know QBs are overpaid, especially this year with a weak QB class and a lot of QB demand. - Do you offer the farm for Watson without knowing what will happen? - Do you trade up for Malik Willis, knowing that you'll need to move from #11 to #4 to guarantee him? I didn't have a good initial reaction, but some of you are acting like we just brought back John Beck or something. I just want someone to sell me on any of those scenarios as something significantly better than Wentz. Okay, maybe Watson, but don't tell me you are jumping for joy at Winston/Mariota/Trubisky/Jimmy G.

Ron thinks this team is similar to the Rams and he is way off. His team NEEDS the draft picks. Every last one of them. Holes everywhere on this roster. So I sign Teddy, I draft the stud wr out of Ohio State and have more room on the cap to fill some holes. I'd probably go in the 2nd or 3rd round to get my QB and just deal w/ the fact that this isn't a great QB draft. But I could maybe get Ridder or Strong in the 2nd or maybe the 3rd. Now you got someone in the pipeline. I'll try and win 8 or 9 games running the ball, playing better defense, hitting some big plays w/ my wr's and not turning it over. That's the ceiling for this team, with or w/out Wentz. So there you go, I just sold you on what this dumb ass team should have done... lol. |
