Re: Campbell will ask for trade if Redskins draft a QB

How would people feel if we make a steal and draft Jason Campbell for a first rounder? Scenario: Jets miss out on Sanchez, panic when they look at their QB roster, and make a trade. I know this is completely in la-la land, but what if?

Ruh i think you implicitly mean we get Sanchez too right?

Anyway...no i'm not down w/ it at all. Just after our season ended I started a thread of my own predictions. I said back in December, just after our season ended, JC would have a monster season in '09. It was a tough thing to say cuz he struggled so much in the 2nd half of the season, but i watched every game and saw everything around Jason crumbling...starting w/ a truly pathetic o-line and ending w/ WR who just couldn't get open most of the time. But looking forward I said if the franchise does things right, improving the line and getting better performance out of our WR corp, that JC would look like the stud he was early in the season. I still believe that. What bothers me so much about the Sanchez craze isn't Sanchez, but that Danny the FO somehow still don't see the big picture IMO...you have to build a solid system around a QB to make things happen. We've not done that in forever and evidently have no plan of doing it now. Instead just look to another prospect who would have to be a miracle maker to score the kind of points the NFL's best offensive systems score.

I haven't had the time to read the whole discussion, but it doesn't make sense. Either way we go, we will be putting an un-proven QB under center this year. Colt hasn't taken any snaps during game time, and Sanchez won't be up to speed on the playbook in time. If they don't want Jason, we should groom Colt instead of going after MS. Colt should get a shot, just to see if his college stats were the product of a weak schedule, or a talented QB.
I dont like Sanchez, don't want him. I like Jason, and don't think we should do anything until after this year.

You are right. It doesn't make sense. I just don't see Zorn assenting to going into the season with Collins, Brennan, or Sanchez under center.

This is one of many reasons why I think the whole trade-up-for-Sanchez thing is a smoke screen, nothing more. I really don't think that the Skins are as smitten with Sanchez as many people think we are.

The more I hear the more I doubt it is a smoke screen. We had a Qb that had been in the league for a few yrs and played lights out for 8 games. Then got out shined by Rookies (Balt, Atlanta) with new coach's in new offenses. I think Zorn sees something he does not like in JC or simply thinks we could do better.

Of Snyder, VC, and Zorn, I think Zorn is JC's biggest fan. If nothing else, Zorn has a lot invested in their joint project and I think Zorn would prefer to see it through closer to the end, if there is one, rather than starting over from scratch.

We'll see tomorrow but I have no problem with being on the record saying SMOKE SMOKE SMOKE. If I have to eat crow, I'll have mine with salsa, but right now I'm thawing a steak for tomorrow instead.

Its' not Zorn cause he is a Puppet of the Front Office. He has zero imput if we take Sanchez I bet. Remember he got the job of Head Coach by lack of big name coaches wanted the job. Dan Synder maybe the next AL DAVIS.

Ya know, this really boils down the whole discussion. If someone thinks Danny is gonna do whatever the **** Danny wants to do, then no other thing will fit. Even though he often has acceded to the thoughts of Vinny or whatever coach he has hired (proof of this has been given many times in many ways) some people are always gonna believe that Danny is behind the curtain like the "Great and Powerful Wizard of Oz". For those people, even if this trade doesn't happen it will not be because he listened to VC or Zorn (the "football people") but because some other team kept him from himself.
If you believe (or very much want to believe) that the 3 work together to come up with a strategy, than you are more likely to believe this is just hogwash, and that the Skins are trying to get the players they need to win the toughest division in football.

Possibly, I think that people have not even thought that Zorn might be on board for this, of course he has to mention Campbell more than others and put on that facade if this is the case.

has anyone actually heard Campbell say a thing? I'm confused. I thought all this came from "someone close to the qb"

You are correct. This story about JC demanding a trade is a rumor, not a fact, and it seems to me like an unlikely rumor. Shoot, if VC is blowing smoke to trade down, he may have been the one who put these words out there.
