Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal
Almost 10 years worth quite honestly. Allen has been rumored a couple of times before to come here. And it definitely intensified in the last 18 months. The feeling among most though was that Allen and Snyder would always be in close contact but wouldn't necessarily ever officially ever team up, just because they had come so close before only for one of them to decide not to move forward with it.

Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal
I think Shanahan is better than who we have, and probably whoever might be available, but there are two things that bug me about his record:
Now, his results might be better in Washington, but if there's one thing that is a common theme is that people get worse when they come here. Still, winning two super bowls back to back requires significant coaching and personnel. Hopefully if we bring the right personnel here with our new FO layout, we will enjoy some good football around here. |

Yeah, I can read maybe one page over there just cuz the color scheme is so crazy. I didn't see a link either.

I don't think there was a link. It seemed like they were talking about something Casserly said on TV or Radio.

Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal
With Allen on board, I suspect Bill Muir might be a possibility for the coaching staff as well. He's in KC right now.
We shall see

I think it's safe to say Shanahan will be here at the end of the season. Reports now are that DS offered the job to him back in March. DS tried to get him to come to the Skins back in 2000. DS visits him(Shanny) at the break although it was reported DS was helping out a Charity only to have it come out he visited Shanny and tried to get him to take the job at the break. Reports are DS and Shanny are pretty good friends and talk all the time since they met up back in 2000 at some confrence. We should be more concerned at this point with who will Shanny bring with him...as position coach's and scouts. I'm really interested in who the WR coach, Special Teams coach, and OL coach. I'd like to see M. Shanahan- HC/president Kubiac- Asst. HC/Senior OC K. Shanahan- OC A. Gibbs- OL WR and ST I have no clue as to who we could get. On a side note Jerry Rice might not have coached before but do you guys think he could be brought in as Asst. to the WR coach if paid well enough to pass on his abilities and work out routine. Especially his off season work out routine? Then to round out the team maybe a blast from the past Darrel Green to be Asst. defensive backs coach. |

Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal
So if/when Shannhan comes here... Do you think we end up keeping Portis another year considering they've worked together in the past?

Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal
I can't help but think that there's a mystery head coach candidate that is completely off the radar. Look at past moves of the Danny, he usually finds a way to make a move that nobody saw coming. Gibbs was a shocker, nobody saw Marty coming, and even the Vinny/Allen drama last week came as a surprise. The Shanahan rumors almost seem too obvious. I think something else is cooking.

But I think if it's not Shanahan. You might look at some other choices such as Shanahan's son, Marty's son, Mike Zimmer, and Leslie Frazier. But at this point we're getting into like Plan J
