Re: Super Bowl XLIV Gameday Thread: Saints vs. Colts

I didnt think this game was especially exciting but when the Saints went for it on 4th (getting stuffed) and then pulled off the onside kick I knew they were going to let it all hang out to win so I was glad they won.

Greg Williams is a great defensive coordinator. End of discussion. I think there are a few coaches out there that actually make a difference and he is one of them....along with Rex Ryan. Not sure if he will ever get a shot again as a head coach but he deserves one.

Payton has big big balls and I bet he learned that aggressive style while coaching under Parcells.

Outside of the pick which was simply a great play by Porter, Manning played great. I don't buy the choke talk at all.

Why do we have to have these silly arguments about who is the greatest of all time?
Montana, Manning, Marino, Bradshaw, Brady, Jurgensen, etc. were all great. Different strengths and weakness'.
Brees played great once he heated up in after the 2nd quarter. Might he win another SB?

Forget who said it but I like the argument of best of their time. Makes a little more sense to do it that way since you really can't fairly compare across different eras of the game.

NE 2001 OFF Rank -6 DEF Rank-6 Points allowed 272
INDY 2001 OFF Rank -2 DEF Rank-31 Points allowed 486

NE 2003 OFF Rank -12 DEF Rank-1 Points allowed 238
INDY 2003 OFF Rank -2 DEF Rank-20 Points allowed 336

NE 2004 OFF Rank -4 DEF Rank-2 Points allowed 260
INDY 2004 OFF Rank -1 DEF Rank-19 Points allowed 351

If Manning had the same defenses NE had he'd have multiple rings too. He did more with less. Manning's offenses would have been hard-pressed to be anywhere near the top without him. Brady had the luxury of a strong defense getting turnovers and holding down the oppositions score and time on the field. Spin it any way you want. It is what it is.

Luckily for The Who, they can return to their wheelchairs and sponge baths today.

That was pretty lame. My GF wasn't even sure who they were. She asked me if the league got them to play because of "Who Dat." I really couldn't give a good reason why they were chosen to play. Maybe it was Seniors Week in Miami? Or is it always Seniors Week in Miami?

I've loved The Who for decades so I have nothing against the choice. But it sure was Old Geezers Hour. At least with the geriatrics there can be no "wardrobe malfunctions." If Roger Daltrey had shown some nipple, the stadium would have cleared and the second half would have been canceled.

That's exactly why they were picked, they are safe. Its funny that they are considered safe now considering how out there they were back in their hey-day.

I love The Who but last night they sucked. The vocals had no power/energy and everything seemd slow & tired.

The SB halftime was once again a snooze-fest. The Who? Really?
