Re: Report: Redskins are pursuing Vincent Jackson
What kind of message would it be sending we have a DL who is upset with were the media has been reporting he will be playing NT & wants a trade, then we go out and get a WR who is unhappy & wants more money.

Re: Report: Redskins are pursuing Vincent Jackson
I am not of the opinion this will get done anymore. I really want to see DT and Kelly get shot with this new offense. Coach Shanny should let these guys play in pads before he replaces them. DT has the ability to make plays andMK should be able to get it going with proper coaching. Coach these guys up and get it done.

Re: Report: Redskins are pursuing Vincent Jackson
^ It sounds good, but we haven't seen it as aproven comodity. I am with you in wanting them to succeed, but they haven't proven there ability and i am sure that is why they are/were giving Jackson a look. BUT I am all for one more shot for the 2 youngsters.

Re: Report: Redskins are pursuing Vincent Jackson
I know what your saying Dirtbag but some teams #1 WR are another teams 2nd, 3rd, or 4th WR. I can tell you our #1 Moss wouldn't be a #1 on many of teams, he'd be a #2 or #3 WR. He's our #1 cause he's the best the Skins have right now. I think many of you would say Moss is by far better then Thomas and Kelly right now.
and... you are correct in saying that teams don't always make it to a SB with their god like WR's. But what we are talking about is weapons. The Skins have one weapon who is often injured (Moss), then Cooley and now Davis. In the right scheme you might be able to mention Portis and the other RB's. What a team/HC I'm sure would like is several god like WR's, 2 god like TE's, 1 or 2 god like RB's, and a god like QB. Since according to many here we have the QB now, the TE's now, and hopefully RB's for a couple of yrs, can we look into possibly WR's with out someone complaining that we should just stay the course with the mediocrity we have had and look for any upgrades at that position which would cause other defenses to have to account for yet another threat? |

Re: Report: Redskins are pursuing Vincent Jackson
I am no longer on board. I want my draft picks. This would leave us with about the same amount of picks we had last year. 1st, 5th, 6th, 7th. Really makes watching the NFL draft pretty lame.

Re: Report: Redskins are pursuing Vincent Jackson
I kind of think we shouldn't do the Jackson trade, just because we need the picks badly.
On the other hand, getting a competent receiver -- in VJ's case, a star -- is probably the move we need to take us from contenders to favorites in the NFC East. It would be consistent with all of our other trades this offseason, which means that if the plan is to win now, we shouldn't hold off on doing this trade. With all of those sides presented, I'm not really sure what the plan is. The reason this trade hasn't happened yet is that the Redskins are still finding a way they can unload Haynesworth to soften the draft pick compensation on Jackson, but there's just no historical comparable as to how to value Haynesworth's contract in a trade. For the entire salary cap era, a contract like that was untradeable.

Re: Report: Redskins are pursuing Vincent Jackson
My response to this is how do we know we don't already have the pieces to have an exciting passing game? With the 2 TEs, Santana, Thomas, and a RB IE Parker or Portis. I think we may have the makings of something potent already. We haven't seen any of them in KS's system.
