Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday

After thinking it over for a few hours I'm in the boat of hey why not?

McNabb clearly isn't the answer here for Shanahan, so why not evaluate the other guys?

I heard Kevin Sheehan make a good point and I'm paraphrasing here, doesn't matter if you're a bad guy like AH or a great guy like DM, if you're not getting it done Shanahan is going to move on, and he doesn't care who's feelings he hurts.

I love Sheehan...best radio guy in DC by far IMO.

Agree. And benching him protects him from injury and puts less bad tape out there on him. Right now there's still some interest in McNabb based on your earlier post, if the decision has been made to go another direction, protect what investment we have left and evaluate Grossman.

We are a bad team with a lot of needs, are those needs filled better with winning short term and winding up with a 12-16th pick or evaluating our young, newer players and winding up with a 5-10 pick in each round. Add in maybe a 3rd rounder for McNabb and we can fill some needs and improve (hopefully) for 2011.

i am in the same boat too, i don't think grossman starting(which is a joke) is the real issue. the real isssue is the horrific way all the teams issues have been dealt with. shanahan comes off more and more like a egotistical maniac with every move that he makes. i hope he pans out but this is very reminiscent of gibbs coming back and being out of touch with the game. i know shanahan was only out one year but after elway retired he never won another playoff game in one of the weakest divisions in the nfl, and was barely an above average coach.

Good observations, things do seem really chaotic, but to try & be positive; it may take more chaos to right this ship (though Shan has to take blame for the trade). I think it's more of Shanahan still getting a grip on this organization & town, not the nfl itself.

This team hasn't had a disciplinarian like Shan since Marty in 01. The coaches since then were more players coaches/nice guys. DS opted not to hire GW who is an outspoken disciplinarian. So he may be an egomaniac, or it may seem so because this team has lacked that kind of authority figure for so long.

i really hope he can right the ship, but honestly i don't see how that can happen after this season but ya never know. i just feel in this day and age it takes a different type of coach and a different type of football to win. the game is getting faster by the week and things are constantly changing and you have to make adjustments to adapt.

thus far shanahan has not adjusted anything in a positive way, the offense still can't score and the play calling gets worse every game it seems. i mean if you have a rb who has 150 yards going into half time why would you not continue to run him? if the 3-4 isn't working don't force it use a few more 4-3 formations and slowly make a transition.

it's just hard as a fan to watch this team just keep heading in a downward spiral. a few people have said it and i really think this year was worse than last year. zorn was in over his head and everyone called him out, but now we have shanahan making alot of moves that are just as questionable, but he gets a pass because of two rings. i think after this season it is a wash, he now has no lee-way after what has gone down this year. every move he makes from here on out will be under immense scrutiny and justifiably so.

bottom line is i am just sick and tired of this crap and wish fan boy would sell the team or move to la so we can pull a b-more, because when you want to point the final blame shanahan and his "boy genius" son aren't the ones that i hold ultimatly accountable. snyder has put us in this mess and he is the only one who can get us out. hopfully shanahan works out....

Matty:

Sounds good - - but if you name is Kyle Shanahan can you stay around even if you "aren't getting it done"...?

Just asking...

If you don't have the talent to execute the plays it doesn't matter what plays are called. KS didn't turn into a bum overnight. He knows what he's doing when it comes to running an offense.

Would you fire him? You think he's a problem?

Absolutely not.

But if you don't have the talent to execute the plays, then how will you be able to "evaluate" your #2 and #2 QBs to see if they can cut it?

Totally agree, when KS had talent in Houston his O worked just fine. He doesnt have much talent here so its a wish and a prayer that something he calls will work here.

The coaching staff isnt the problem with the Skins, the players that have never done anything but underachieve and complain are.

Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday

This decision by Mike Shanahan is well-thought-out, difficult, and based on a reasonable premise, that we would be wasting three games with McNabb to finish out the year.

Which makes it the only good decision that Shanahan has made this year, re: McNabb. Obviously, this year was managed poorly enough to have more than enough evidence to suggest that Shanahan is simply not the right man to be coaching this team. I anxiously await the next two years that will be spent sticking with him as coach for reasons not nearly as clear as the ones for this QB change.

Not only do we need a young starting QB, We need a young talented HC. Redskins will go no where with Shanny. He's out of touch.
