Me and my sister went to lunch with him and Ken Harvey's family after church about 5 years ago. Darryl Green could not stop talking about himself if he tried. Harvey was nice though, but DG was kinda fake............not impressed in the least.

London Fletcher is a famous athlete and yet, I'd imagine if you had lunch with him, he'd want to do more besides talk about himself.

I do agree with your first point though. You'd think fans would be able to correctly spell the name of one of the most recognizable HOFers in Redskins history, and yet apparently that's not the case.

right, i imagine the famous athlete would want to do more than talk about himself, but i imagine the fan may have different wants

Re: 2012 NFL Free Agency Tracker (Book 3)

I've heard nothing but bad things about Darrell Green in terms of his dealings with the fans. Its never fun to hear that your childhood favorites (or just generally favorite, if you're not as young as me) are a-holes to their fans.

But speaking of childhood, does anyone know if Green was any better with his younger fans or is it just the adults he treats like garbage?

Re: 2012 NFL Free Agency Tracker (Book 3)

Back in the early 90s when I was around 11-12, my cousin & I recognized him at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg.

We went to say,"hi" & he completely ignored us. His wife came over to us and kind of guided us away from him.

She talked to us about him being with his family and that they didn't want to draw any attention to him.

We asked if she could just get him to sign our maps... she went over and came back with autographs.

Could have been A LOT more friendly but I could understand on that day why they would not want to be constantly hounded for pics & autographs... but... he the way he ignored us always has stuck in my memory.

Totally understand you position but I think you have already recognized his... not wanting to be hounded every where he went. The only other way around that would be to either rent the park out so no one else was there and your kids not get the park experience or go way out of town maybe to Dallas country and go to the park. lol.

What Smoot is trying to say is that if he could be stuck on a island with 3 people, it would be Darrell Green, Albert Connell, and Kurt Busch. :cheeky-sm
