At best I see it as a wash (Heinicke's stats were only very slightly better) and that is at best, it's more likely a down grade.
Their td and int were the same. To me it is about QBR Jacoby was a solid 60 which was 8th best in league. Taylor was a woeful 44.8. I am not saying this is a send us to playoffs move but the cost versus production is worth it.

Heinicke has a higher passer RTG (So everyone but ESPN would rank him higher). QBR is strictly an ESPN formula that some have criticized. Weird thing you'd think is QBR would be reflected directly with won/loss record as it is tied to points, importance of plays etc. Yet Heinicke had a much higher win/loss rate. Given that one would think Brisset would have a lower QBR.

I think by the eye test he is a better QB. But to say he is a massive upgrade? No way. Not buying that.

The Washington #Commanders are signing QB Jacoby Brissett to a one-year deal worth up to $10 million and $8 million guaranteed, per source. Washington gets a starting option for a quarterback who played well for Cleveland last year.
Yeah, like Wentz was a massive upgrade last year.

Yep, for me it says they won't pursue a QB in the 1st. BPA in lower rounds maybe, but reaching in the 1st, or worse, trading up doesn't make sense. If Howell is a wash, Brissett can at least hold the fort then we go hard for a QB next draft.

This is key. Not really in love with any of them anyway and this really opens up the draft.

Oline
ILB
CB
S
TE

If we play our cards right in the draft we can have a pretty complete team with some solid depth.
We don’t need a washed up mentor like Dalton we need a guy who can actually play (possibly start) if Sam gets injured or looks bad in the preseason. I don’t think he will but injuries you never know.

Another day of solid moves. Getting Brissett is crucial.

Must be running low on cap space by now, wonder if they will be making moves on some existing veterans

Can't argue that JB is an upgrade over Taylor. Real solid move. These guys are doing pretty well so far this offseason.

For all you TH haters, he had a 12- 11 record here as a starter. :-)

I think the next move at QB needs to come via the draft. I'd would grab someone in the mid rounds. Max Duggan would be a perfect pick.

Brissett Browns highlights. Will not be surprised at all if he ends up starting Week 1. He finished 8th in QBR last year.

This is a MASSIVE update to our roster.

Re: Commanders 2023 Free Agency Thread

I watched brisket all year. My best friend is a die hard browns fan. Not impressed one bit and he is currently dogging the move and I agree. We joke around about the browns and skins being "mirrors" and a hell of a lot of times that ahit rings true. On a play to play basis on Sundays or just in general. It's fuckin eerie how accurate it can be.

Brisket would have lost to TH on new years day I'd bet serious money on that. He may have a few better traits like arm strength or whatever else... but the guy wasn't a winner, displayed poor decision making A SHIT TON and doesn't have "it". IMO the guys a bum and if he's our starter? Good luck. Ron and Co. Are inept enough to consider this guy an option but I wouldn't think EB (if he had any say in it) would be.

Not a lot to choose from, sure, but an upgrade and potential starter? Please save it. I watched this bum week in and week out. Nothing to see here at all. For the love of God Howell, please show up.

Well If the plan was to go with Howell, when Heinicke was still in the fold, I can't see Brisset changing that plan given that Brisset hasn't been better than Heinicke.
