Re: Jimmy Clausen has met with the Redskins

Vinny Cerrato loves a ND qb? Unbelievable. He gushes anytime he speaks of anything ND. Maybe we need to run the other way.

Kidding of course. Well, kind of kidding.

Then the propensity to overdraft skilled players it's no wonder this team was such a mess. It was a miracle that Gibbs was able to put together two winning seasons. However from a scout perspective I feel Cerrato is decent.
Agreed.

If Cleaveland were dumb enough to trade up to get clausen, then either Suh or McCoy would fall to us at 4 and we'd have multiple teams calling us with offers to trade up to our pick. IMO that would be a great scenario for us.

Re: Jimmy Clausen has met with the Redskins

I'd also like to point out that the Redskins apparent lack of interest in Clausen could easily be a smoke screen. I think someone else on this forum brought this up but no one knew the Bronco's were looking at Cutler. Heck they didn't even spend one of their 30 pre draft visits on him if I heard correctly. So just remember Clausen could easily be a Redskin with the 4th pick. Then again this front office has played things close to the vest and a close to the vest pick would be an offensive lineman.

Such a smokescreen would only be reasonable if there was legitmate belief that he could be gone by your pick. This is a guy who had toe surgery in January, hasn't run or thrown for anyone since, and probably won't do much before the draft. I can't imagine going in on Clausen on blind faith that everything that was "seen" on tape will translate.

I mean, we are going to personally interview him like any other suitor would, but I think the percieved lack of interest is just that -- a lack of interest.

yeah man, i would be all for that. 4th overall would be worth a move down into the middle of the first and another pick early in the 2nd. that would be sweet.

Thats also a possibility to. Maybe the lack of interest is just that, but it wouldn't surprise me if we did draft him. This front office has just been throwing curve balls and sliders left and right. The only thing I've noticed as I've said before is most of the choices they've made are conservative.

I was thinking the same thing. Such a smokescreen could be used to:
a) discourage QB-hungry others from trading up ahead of us or
b) increasing leverage to check out trade down offers, just in case

The Rams can let everyone know what they are thinking. We, at #4, would be fools to give anything away, regardless of what our thinking is.

Re: Jimmy Clausen has met with the Redskins

I wonder if vinny has a lot of influence on the redskins with Clausen; I wonder if he's calling DS saying "This is my guy he's going to be a great QB" when he really wants this franchise to suck, as you've seen through his free agency hires and drafts.

Re: Jimmy Clausen has met with the Redskins

If we pick Clausen, it will have nothing to do with VC. I wouldn't say he's persona non-grata in Redskins Park, but he's got no say.

Re: Jimmy Clausen has met with the Redskins

I seen quite a few ND games and i think this guy is a franchise qb. I know you have a lot of people that don't like him. However, he's mobile, accurate in and outside of the pocket, good arm strength, and makes good decisions. If we drafted him at 4, I wouldn't be mad at all.

Re: Jimmy Clausen has met with the Redskins

I agree with most of you guys with this. Allen and Shanny will not tell anyone what they're doing. I'm sure you guys have already noticed how much attention Sam Bradford is getting? Well just wait till Jimmy Clausen goes and throws just as well, We have the prefect situation in this draft if you asked me. The lions will not take Okung because they had the worst defense in the league, they'll take Suh or Mccoy and the bucs will take what's left. We'll be able to chose from A) Russel Okung B) Jimmy Clausen C) Eric Berry and every one of those positions would help our team out. Don't be surprised if we trade some players to get a second round pick (Rogers, Rocky, Andre, etc.) and go all out on offensive linemen in the second round to compliment our 37th already.
Basically my point is weither it's Jimmy Clausen or Russell Okung our team has improved and probably more with a pick like Clausen. A guy who will do whatever it takes to play as successful as he did in college and give our team an arrogant QB to get into some teams heads. Let's only hope that these guys don't bust like 60% of them do. I can barely wait for April 22nd!

Re: Jimmy Clausen has met with the Redskins

So this is interesting...the Redskins are apparently holding private workouts with Sam Bradford and Jimmy Clausen...on the same day. April 15th. I must have my info crossed up, because I can't imagine they'd hold them on the same day. But that's the info I have now

At first I was against Clausen. I kept hearing how Bradford was far and away better then Clausen. I kept hearing how Bradford has the most accurate arm and the best strength. I heard how the next most accurate QB is McCoy.

The way I saw it we have JC, and Grossman who have strong arms. Their just not accurate. Who knows what we have in Colt he can't stay healthy enough to find out and then there is Bartel.

Recently though I've heard and read how Clausen is climbing the board and has looked accurate and looks to have the arm strength. I'm not a homer. So whoever MS and KS feels would be best to run their offense would be satisfactory with me. I'm just not feeling the Tebow is our guy mancrush. Sorry.
