Re: Laron Landry - Redskin for life?
Do you expect Laron to be an average player again? How long do you expect him to play given his current situation? Any thoughts which franchises might take a chance on him?

I mean it's not that people doubt his skills it's that they're skeptical of a guy who hasn't gotten surgery yet. And on his end, he's worried surgery could essentially end his career.

I always wondered how coachable he is & how he prepares w/others. Without knowing any more than what I see on tv, the guy comes across as being close to the opposite of London Fletcher w/regards to team concept & leadership. |

If you look during his rookie season, you don't really see a lot of that.

Like Landry, he was a workout freak, but did not get along especially well with some teammates and coaches. Some of the comments about Landry are revealing a personality profile very similar to Westbrook. The two players are strikingly similar in many ways; Landry may be a unique physical specimen, just as Westbrrok was, but he may also be unhappy in his current football environment, also just as Westbrrok was. Re: Laron Landry - Redskin for life?
I would hate to see LaRon go but its looking that way, is Atogwe coming back for sure next year? Are you guys sold on Gomes as a starter? I would like to see us go after Branch from the Raiders if Laron does go.

Also, Atogwe wasn't entirely healthy this year. I think he returns

Odd. Atogwe seems like a stand-up guy. He has been good in the past. I hope he sticks around for at least one more year.

Re: Laron Landry - Redskin for life?
I may have worded it wrong. It's not like they're jawing at each other it's just that sometimes the best players and best coaches aren't the biggest fans of each other

I think it's an important factor, especially for those hoping Manning is our next QB. Manning from all accounts is a good guy who wants a good working relationship with everyone. Why would he have anything to do w/ Mike Shanahan after the McNabb fiasco etc etc?

And, I think, that Shanahan felt Atogwe was more hurt than he let on

Pure speculation on my part, but I'm thinking Shanahan might relinquish considerable control to Peyton Manning in order to reestablish or reaffirm his own credibility as a top-flite coach. I'm not suggesting we sign Manning, because I think there is too much risk involved with making an investment in him under the circumstances. Nevertheless, Shanahan may view it differently; he might see Manning as his last, best opportunity to win another Super Bowl.
