What I really like about the moves so far is we're seeing a commitment to being a tough, physical team that plays with some attitude.

I give a slight edge to Knighton over Culliver. If he can get in shape, he's just what the defense has been missing. Just a little concerned that Denver let him walk out the door without any attempt to resign him.

Re: Redskins 2015 Signings (and Re-Signings) Thread
Pot Roast is a two down player. Culliver is good but not great. Paea, however, could thrive if he is given a gap-shooting role like he said he was promised. So I voted Paea.

went with the corner, paea is a safer signing though, no baggage, solid player.

Re: Redskins 2015 Signings (and Re-Signings) Thread
As for the poll... i really like all of the signings and believe they all will contribute.
Francois... id give C+ ...nice depth signing but not a starter Paea....id give a B+... Big strong DE who will give us some push and inside pass rush in nickle Knighton... id give an A-... Awesome run stopper with major beef to wear down opposing OL Culliver... id give an A... Just what the doctor ordered. Tall, strong, rangy CB to team with Breeland Johnson.. id give an A+.. Fills a major need. Big, physical, fast, hungry SS who also excels on ST for cheap contract. while unproven i believe he will be very good player given the chance to prove himself. All tbinhs considered i think he is our BEST signing given need, contract, age and ability. I love the way SM is adding players to defense to emulate the Seahawks D. lots of physical DL to rotate, and big rangy DBs to play press coverage and play physical football. Still need to add an OLB to rush the passer in the draft and get a FS either thru the draft, FA (Goldston?) or move Hall.or Amerson to FS and our D should be much improved. Solidify the D to keep us in games, work on the OL in the draft and get some DECENT play out of our QB and we should at least be competetive this year.We have weapons on offense if our QB play can get em the ball. |

I went with Culliver over Knighton because we have him signed for four years as opposed to one year for Knighton. Both of them should make significant contributions.

Knighton is motivated, so that should help us.

Re: Redskins 2015 Signings (and Re-Signings) Thread
I think Los was comparing Paea to Salave (i could be wrong).
I went Culliver as well. To be honest I dont know much about any of the guys we signed besides articles written about them after they signed with us. Culliver under control for 4 yrs vs pot roast w 1. Culliver is young and seems to be on the rise of his career without ever really getting a starter chance. I also like the fact that teams who know him (Sea and Sf) were in pursuit. Plus he is a Scot hand picked guy. And at a position of high need for our team and league demand overall. i thought the same thing about josh wilson as well so time will tell. surprised Tracy Porter has not been cut, but in Scot i trust. |

sorry for not making that clear, i was comparing paea to salave'a. i expect a similar impact.
and maybe pot roast can give us more than daryl gardener gave us in 2002.

Re: Redskins 2015 Signings (and Re-Signings) Thread
McC has said that if Knighton plays well this year, he will reward Knighton next year. It will be interesting to see how that plays out. I fully expect Knighton to perform as he has the last couple years - very well. Does that mean a 6M/yr (or more) extension? If he doesn't get extended or get monetary satisfaction, will it damage McC's credibility?
Love Knighton signing. For the type of play he has exhibited, I think we got him on the cheap (even for a two-down player) and will be interested to see how McC handles it going forward. One of those "put a pin in it" deals that could, eventually, have a significant effect on how UFA's view the Skins in the future ("play well and they'll pay well" v. "can't trust them").
