Re: Jason Campbells response to Portis
Every single time campbell speaks, he earns more of my respect. He has, without question, better character than almost any qb in the league. It just makes me happy we have someone like him and not someone like jay cutler...

Re: Jason Campbells response to Portis
You know, I've said that to myself about a dozen times this season, and even asked Matty to nuke my account (he didn't, don't know why). Just go away for 6 months and come back when we make the next big splashy move. Absence makes the heart grow blonder.

Then don't, save yourself some trouble...or come up with a better argument.

Re: Jason Campbells response to Portis
On a more serious note:
I'd wager that almost all of us are ignorant about what it takes to lead an NFL franchise on the field as a quarterback, yourself included. Many of us are not ignorant about what it means to be a leader of others, for as much as that analogy holds up compared to a football team. Like many others who have not responded favorably to that last statement you made, I think your logic is faulty in this case. Jason Campbell may not be a Brett Favre kind of team leader (in fact he is not -- yet, and may never be). But even Brett Favre is not responsible for making sure that the Minnesota Vikings are prepared to come out and execute as a football team on Sundays. The kind of leadership he exhibits is one of character, toughness, dedication, setting an example for the team to follow, and stopping the BS when it interferes with his ability to do any of the above. I think Jason's done most of that this season. What he hasn't done was won games singlehandedly. Fault him for that if you will, but blaming him for the team's lack of readiness is way off base.

I've heard that request plenty of times only to see that person come back a while later.

Apparently not. Honestly, it's easier getting the news from WP than the (other) W(ash)P(ost). Self control -- on an Internet forum -- frequented by human beings? You are a real kidder, you know that?

Re: Jason Campbells response to Portis
I just saw Peter King on P.T.I and he said he has been told that we may keep Portis, Draft a QB in the 1st round and then let Campbell go.. I hope that isn't true. I would rather have JC with a rookie for competition

Re: Jason Campbells response to Portis
I heard that as well but usually PK is wrong and plus he hates the skins. Judging by the press conference I would think the complete opposite. Shannahan sounded like Campbell was going to be here next year as if it was a done deal.

Just saying that at this point who the hell knows what's going to happen with the team. I get the feeling there may be some surprise cuts.

Re: Jason Campbells response to Portis
JC has 1yr. If we shore up the o-line in the 1st and 3rd, get a WR in a trade (Marshall) and sign a FA RB (Norwood) he can be successful.

Re: Jason Campbells response to Portis
Yea.. I voted Portis.... just because i feel weve gotten fickle with em a little.
Its kinda disrespectful... CP held this team up offensively since weve gotten him. Now he has his 1st poor season and EVERYONES hopping on the side of our mediocre QB? AND I LIKE CAMPBELL... this is coming from someone who like Jason Campbell as a player as well... Ive always talked about his progression as JC was being bashed by everyone on here, just to clear that up. UNLESS CP cant handle the fact of being part of a Multi-back system and was REALLY gonna be a pain in the ass this year id release em.
