Re: Redskins, Cowboys could go “nuclear” over cap mess

Since the owners are concerned with player safety, maybe the could somehow institute this into the game. Concussions are a thing of the past!

Please. They'd probably only put one on offensive players.

I like to think there was more happening then we all know. I think the team had a plan as to how to handle the offseason. The punishment, although some would like to say both teams knew one was coming I don't think they thought it would be as big as it was if any at all. See the two teams put the league in a bad spot. No way the NFLPA would agree to not file suit, and no way would the league punish them with out risking proving there was collusion.

On top of all this there might have been agreements made with agents in order to get deals done quick prior to FA and prior to the league punishing the two teams. I think the team went about its normal routine getting FA's while trying to figure out what to do next about their plan. Part B of the plan was to also wait and see what Fletcher would get offered on the open market and match it. As far as we know the top two LB's have not even had a nibble as of yet. So although Fletcher sits there and it looks bad on us I think he's waiting to see if we are going to get any money back to resign him.

As the media puts it this should be a slam dunk for both teams, legally both teams did not break any laws and did not violate any CBA cause there was not one, on top of that the league approved the deals when they had the opportunity to turn them down and force the two teams to either not make new deals or atleast rework them to fall with the perimeters set out. The league didn't, they approved the deals. Personally there has to be an appeal of the process to show they don't agree with it and give the league the opportunity to give it back or come to some form of agreement. If that does not happen then a trial might be in the works.

But to answer your question I think the fight to get some of the money back is now the new plan is to try to get Fletcher signed.

I'd settle for the Saints 2nd round pick this year and $15mil back.

Mora is a tool. Most media sources were siding with the punished teams not the league cause they know the agreement to begin with was wrong, but I'd guess if I was looking for a HCing job somewhere I'd side with the owners also.

Ok I know your going to say F them but if we get that what is propper compensation to the Cowboys? Wouldn't they like to have the 2nd RD pick also?

I'd take a compensatory pick say the 1st RD? They can flip a coin to see which team gets the first compensatory pick.

I'd settle for the full $36 mil back but I think the fair ruling would be to give us $36 mil PLUS a compensatory pick for screwing us out of FAs that we would have had an opportunity to sign at normal cap size.

We kept 18mill of the 36. In other words all they took was 18mill. I agree I'd rather have our full money back. Once the other teams saw any other owner not keeping to the agreement then all bets should have been off and all the owners should have done the same.

I'd like our 18mill back.

Re: Redskins, Cowboys could go “nuclear” over cap mess

"I thought the penalties imposed were proper," Mara said. "What they did was in violation of the spirit of the salary cap. They attempted to take advantage of a one-year loophole, and quite frankly, I think they're lucky they didn't lose draft picks."

This literally made me LOL. EVERYTHING you said in there in no way relates to illegal activity or rule-breaking. "Spirit" and "loophole" are the two words he might have wanted to re-think. He just sounds stupid there.

Have we ever found out the person in charge of the whole vote or whatever it was that ended up costing us the money?
