Re: King predicts Haynesworth to Redskins

Well hey at least this time we're overspending on a top tier lineman. Can't say I'm to crazy about his character and I also believe a lot of defensive problems stemed from a scheme issue but given that we have better personel on defense then the Titans minus Haynesworth I'd say the possibilities are pretty exciting. Now if they get the O-lineman that we need in free agency I'll be able to die happy. Of course at the same time I'm going to be against a new CBA hoping that the NFL adopts a baseball like system but at least the rumors about Vinny wanting to redo the lines are looking like they could have some merrit to them.

More like the best lineman available.

Looks like the Redskins are not alone on the Haynesworth sweepstakes. I don't know how reliable this article, but they mention the Giants...are you f'ing kidding me? A line with Haynesworth, Tuck, and Umeniyora? That's a nightmare for the NFC east.

Huh? I was refering to the Snyder regime over the past 10 years, but just to play devils advocate we did pay a second round pick and $8 million to get Jason Taylor last year so technically yeah but that wasn't what I was going for.

NFL network reported that the Redskins are going to offer a $100Mill contract that averages $16Mill a year.

That would cripple us. No way he is worth Peyton Manning money.

It would not cripple us if there is no salary cap next year. Sheesh!

Schneed, you need to take a break from this place. Otherwise you're going to end up siting in a rocking chair, covered in a blank, shivering and repeating over and over again "there's no salary cap next year, there's no salary cap next year." LOL.

could we structure a contract so that he makes like 6 million this year, 50 million next year, 6 million in 2011, 8 million in 2012...

If the salary cap goes away it's never coming back, might as well keep the 50 mil/year salary rolling.

Thats not even close to being true. it was an idle threat by the NFLPA but it has no basis in reality. If theres not a new CBA, the owners will lock out the players in 2011. So its in the interest of both sides to work out a new agreement. players would want a salary FLOOR and the owners would not agree to that without a salary cap. the cap would most certainly come back whenever a new CBA was negotiated.

i know (assume) this is a joke, but that'd be an illegal contract (30% rule/guaranteed money/etc). If it's an team option bonus, the player wouldn't go for it, and the league wouldn't approve it (since we wouldn't have enough space in case a cap does come down - 50mill bonus if kept or 30mill to cut him, when we're (probably) projected to be over again next year and there aren't enough people to cut to make up that much money either).

if the cap goes then its the yankees and that's a whole new deal.
