2 seemingly obvious points. Carter (RDE) and Wynn/Daniels (LDE) do play opposite each other. If you want to see Brennan, buy some DVDs of him playing at Hawaii. He's nowhere near ready to play QB at the NFL level against starters over 16 games. If he has a great, lights out camp then he maybe, MAYBE, will beat out Collins for the #2 QB spot. Nowhere else is the 3rd string QB a fanbase legend. We're comical.

That's my hope also, that the two of them hear all that's being written and said about them (Zorn is just a placeholder for Shanahan/Cowher/Gruden/Holmgren & the past 2 weeks for JC) and just basically say 'f*** it, let's show them.'

I truly hope that Campbell goes into that meeting and tells Snyderatto that the one way they can reassure him is with a 3 year extension. Either way, I hope he's going to go out and prove that he's a franchise QB and he will get his due at the end of the year.

Yep, Both are competitors, and I doubt very much self-doubt creeps in. If they both buy in to the other's abilities then that should be huge.

One question, and I wonder if we will ever get this answered truthfully. Vinny has always said the FO runs with the 3 big dogs coming to a group solution. We assume Danny wanted Cutler, we also assume Zorn was content with (and possibly actively campaigned for) Campbell. But does anyone know how vocal Vinnie was in these discussions?
In other words, did the 3-headed solution actually work the way it claims, and Danny backed away from his desire by listening to his football people, or did we just get turned away at the gate of Denver?

I suppose this goes to whether another team saved us from ourselves or whether our FO showed it is capable of following its own rules.

I don't see him doing that. He's not a guy to rock the boat even in a situation like this where it might be understandable to do so.

Well I wasn't saying it in a Cutler-esque way, more so saying 'I'd like the reassurance of your commitment to me long term.' Sometimes you already know the answer but at least you have to ask the question. Not to rock the boat, just to let them know you're not a shrinking violet either.

From all of this it just re-establishes the fact that Zorn is DS's and VC's puppet coach. Zorn's opinion doesn't matter too much in all of this and that's bad when your football coach doesn't have much say in things....especially when it's the QB involved.

It makes me root for JC even more if that's possible. DS and VC will never learn.

The Broncos are stupid. They passed up Jason Campbell for Kyle Orton. WTF! Kyle Orton blows.

Or maybe they just think that Zorn's offense is flawed. Why build a team around a coach that runs a flawed offense? Why build a team around a coach that can't protect his quarterback from an outside blitz? Why build a team around a coach that doesn't know how to run the football with Sellers, Betts, and Portis? Maybe they realized that they just really screwed up hiring this coach in the first place? Maybe they are painstakingly giving him one more year, but they know that they're in for a long season?

I'm just saying............Maybe?

That's a lot of maybes.

I think often times the most simple answer is the most logical one.

The powers that be saw Cutler to be an upgrade over Campbell.

Re: It's Over: Cutler Going to Chicago

Two questions:

1) Do we root against Cutler now, naturally hoping for him to fail? Seems like this would validate those of us who said to stick with Campbell.

2) If you are Campbell (and assuming you perform exceptionally this year), do you hold it against the team when it comes time to re-sign? You know really make them pay for lack of initial confidence?

I think the FO took themselves out of the running when the Bears upped the price to a player, two 1st rounders and a 3rd. The rumors only had us willing to offer Campbell and a 1st (too much IMO) or a 1st and a 2nd (via a Campbell trade). The Bears were just willing to give away a Ricky Williams type price to get their hometown guy. I am one of the obvo=ious few who think that the FO explored the trade option (any reputable franchise with a question mark at QB would) then backed out when the price became too steep. I applaud the FO's decision to do so. Let's be honest, if Danny really wanted him, he would have matched the Bears offer...and then some!

Re: It's Over: Cutler Going to Chicago

Am I missing something or was the talk about the Skins going after Cutler just a rumor and is there a link that shows for FACT the Skins wanted him. We all know if Snyder wants his man he gets him so what evidence is their we wanted Cutler.

This could be a rallying call for Zorn and Campbell. It reminds me of the scene in Major League when the team finds out they were assembled just so the owner could move the team after a sh*tty season.

Zorn will tell Campbell that Cutler was the first step in a two step process to get Shanahan here next year and that they're in it together. Us vs. Them!

Campbell - "Well what do we do know?"
Zorn - "Win the whole fu*#ing thing"
