Re: Sex Abuse Scandal Rocks Penn State

No one seems to really know former Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky - ESPN

Quote:
AMBRIDGE, Pa. -- The books were uncovered in an old box Wednesday, and Kip Richeal called to say it was OK to stop by and grab one, free of charge. It never came close to being a best-seller, it almost didn't get published, and Richeal, the co-author, never liked the title. But Jerry Sandusky insisted. He wanted the book about his life to be called "Touched."

Richeal has a quiet job selling headstones at a monument company now, but his phone has not stopped ringing for the past six days. Sandusky, legendary assistant coach and pillar of the community, has been charged with 40 counts of sexual abuse to boys in a scandal that has prompted Joe Paterno's firing and rattled the state of Pennsylvania. Sandusky's name is toxic, and his movements are tracked. On Thursday, the State College paper reported that, according to a source, Sandusky was seen shopping at a Dick's Sporting Goods wearing Penn State gear, and a nation recoiled.
I dont know how much faith i put into the report that sandusky was really out shopping at Dick's yesterday like nothing happened but this guy needs to go back to jail asap, if only for his own safety. I give it a 50/50 chance that he doesnt take his life by the end of the weekend, maybe right after he watches the PSU Nebraska game from the comfort of his living room. Even if he doesnt kill himself for some reason hes gonna get severely hurt or killed if hes running around town and shopping at Dick's.

So this guy and the Athletic Director are on leave. I wonder why they haven't been fired.

I'm willing to bet you anything that it's because of the "whistle blower" laws. I'm speaking of McQueary of course, but I have no idea why Curley or Schultz aren't canned unless they somehow fall under the same laws they as well. I imagine they are going through all the legality of everything before they just fire them right out.

Something this big was bound to have whispers. (even from when the police investigated in '98) So wonder how many Board of Trustees knew as well?

Re: Sex Abuse Scandal Rocks Penn State

I tell you what. The Patriot News is on top of things. I applaud them for their professionalism and for their journalism.

A Patriot-News Special Report: Who knew what about Jerry Sandusky? There were many missed chances to investigate as early as 1995 | PennLive.com

Quote:
The earliest documented report of possible abuse at the hands of Sandusky is in 1995, when his now-legally adopted son was still a teenage foster child in his home.

The adoption file for Matt Sandusky, who had a different name at the time, contains letters of concern from his mother to children and youth officials and to a Centre County judge.

Matt’s biological mother, Debra Long, testified before the grand jury.

Matt, 33, is not one of the victims in the grand jury presentment, but he did testify before the grand jury.

Sandusky’s attorney, Joe Amendola, said Long is upset with Sandusky for helping her son and her allegations are not based in fact. Matt went to live with the Sandusky family after he was caught setting fire to a barn in 1995.

Children and Youth Services placed him with the Sandusky family at Jerry Sandusky’s request. He knew Matt through The Second Mile.

In his book, “Touched: The Jerry Sandusky Story” several pages are devoted to Matt.

“He became an instant challenge for me,” Sandusky writes.

Debra Long was allowed to visit her son only one-half day per month after he went to live with the Sanduskys.

About four months after he went to live with Jerry, Matt attempted suicide with a girl who was also staying at Sandusky’s house.

Re: Sex Abuse Scandal Rocks Penn State

He was VP of Finance and also oversaw Human Resources and the University Police

And he had such a distinguished career at Penn State that a couple of months ago they named a child care center after him....sigh

So what intent did we have when he, per his own admission, touched their legs in the shower?

Re: Sex Abuse Scandal Rocks Penn State

He also earlier admitted to hugging boys while naked and im not sure what kind fo intent you can have there either. But Im kind of glad that he is fighting the charges because otherwise i think he would kill himself, leave a note that said he didnt do it but feels disgraced and in effect take away any fair justice from the victims.

And i think that all of the victims of the most graphic assaults that the witnesses saw (McQuery and the janitors) have never been identified. In fact does anyone know what actual witnesses there are that are also victims and what they allege?

I honestly feel like most victims wouldnt come forward at this point. Can you image keeping the secret that you were raped as a kid and then come out with it to everyone you know in order to be a witness. What if you now live a completely normal life, just imagine how people would now treat you. Plus they say that 50% of all child molesters where molested when they were kids, i would bet some people may even act differently when youre around there kids. Its very sad and an absolutely horrible thing.

Re: Sex Abuse Scandal Rocks Penn State

Maybe it is just the entire legal morass that has the participants giving bizarre answers(and will be heard later in court).....but WTF is " I did the right thing.....you guys know me"....
What is that?
"What happened to Oh Hell No...I kicked his ass. That shit will not be allowed to stand as long as I'm around? NO Way No how...not to a kid!"
The morphing quality of the individual stories is getting..........

Re: Sex Abuse Scandal Rocks Penn State

Nope. The legal system isn't crooked either. Guy is walking around with 40 counts of child molestation without having to pay 1 cent in bail.

Judge Who Set Unsecured Bail For Jerry Sandusky Is A Second Mile Volunteer [UPDATE]

I'm still not understanding how Penn State will be paying the legal fees for Schultzand Curley. They get charged with crimes that has sunk the university and the school is paying for their defense? Really?

Big Ten removes Joe Paterno's name from championship trophy - ESPN

Also, you already start seeing organizations disassociate themselves with Paterno. I imagine Penn State will at some point if they uncover him being a big part of the cover up.
