Re: Redskins General 2020 NFL Thread

I really like this idea ...

https://www.hogshaven.com/2020/5/12/...o-right-tackle

Moving Scherff to RT, allows him to get paid like one, and his measurables match up comparably with other good RT's.

We have a plethora of options on the interior ... AND letting Moses go frees up some room to extend Chase at C ... keeping our cap room high to work with in the coming years. OR you keep him as swing T, or depth at the position in general.

Seems like this solves a lot of OL issues.

BS struggled at RT in camp during his rookie year, not saying he can’t do it but I think he’s a much better guard than tackle.

What about signing Warford. Saw he was asking for 7m per year.

$7M? If I were in charge, a two or three year deal would already be done.

He plays guard though right?
IMO guard isn't the issue. Scherff and Martin at G is fine by me.
My issue is LT because we have no guarantee that Charles' gonna be NFL ready by September, especially with a shorten offseason. I'd really feel more comfortable if we brought Donald Penn back on a 1 year deal.

I agree with you.. I'm kinda surprised by Redskins' lack of urgency on LT, I suppose they are content with Lucas taking over the spot if Charles isn't ready by then.

Yeah but I heard talk about moving Sheriff to RT.

Not sure I'm a fan of that option, Scherff seems to excel at Guard. And it wouldn't solve our LT issue.

I think we give Moses one more crack at it. And if not, I like Lucas there at RT. Leave BS where he is best. Now that Trent is gone, BS is our best OL easily. Re-sign him and let him stay where he is successful.

Moses isn’t a burden on our cap.

Re: Redskins General 2020 NFL Thread

I know just a couple of posts back, I really liked the idea posited in Hogs Haven about Scherf to LT.

But ... having read THIS ... I really like this too ... lol

https://www.hogshaven.com/2020/5/13/...yones-problems

Peters at LT, with Shaddiq Charles backing him up seems like a strong combo.

Then Cornelius Lucas can battle Morgan Moses for the RT gig.

That seems to address two questions marks on the line pretty well.

Re: Redskins General 2020 NFL Thread

I agree that adding Peters with Charles as backup creates a real competition at RT where competition is needed. Moses has gotten worse and worse. Indeed at the start of the off-season I thought the major improvement in the O line would be the replacement of Moses. Then we made the series of moderate at best o line signings and all of a sudden it seemed like Moses was being counted on for stability on the O line. THAT is not a good idea. Adding Peters and them having Lucas compete against Moses would be a really strong move.

Yeah ... the line would take shape pretty well ...

RT -- Moses VS Lucas
RG -- Sherff
C - Chase
LG -- Battle of the Wes-es Martin vs Schweitzer
LT -- Peters (backed up by Charles)

That's pretty serviceable.

The good thing about Rivera wanting positional flexibility with his players, is there are options within the O-Line players on the roster. Not to mention increased depth when injuries occur.

Another good reason to add a vet to the LT mix is to give Charles a solid mentor for a season or two.
