Re: Commanders 2025 Offseason Thread
Yes, we have the oldest average age starting roster. But we also have a core of quality young players and a coaching staff capable of getting the most out of the roster. It is looking like Allen's OTHG reborn, but AP has had 2 good drafts at this point. If he can sort the Scary contract out, we should have a very competitive roster this year, possibly 2nd or 3rd best in the NFC.
Like last year, these guys are all 1 or 2 year rentals while we draft and develop rookies behind them. AP (as do we) knows we have to be competitive to leverage Daniels cheap contract. When it gets to his option year, I believe we'll see a hard pivot to a draft focused roster. We're probably going to be the KC of the NFC, with great years and good years instead of bad and awful ones. It's funny how after so many terrible years under Snyder, some are (hyper?) critical of the roster the season after we reached the NFCC... Last edited by AnonEmouse; 07-19-2025 at 04:34 AM. Re: Commanders 2025 Offseason Thread
I agree that the development of Magee is critical, I'll add Johnny Newton as well. These 2 young guys are really important if we are ever going to develop a good defense. Lattimore returning to form is another key.

Agree on all points. Magee is supposed to be a straight beast when healthy. Very physical, a** kicking lb. Newton should be very good also who is athletic for his size. Kid was dominant in the Big 10. No clue on how Lattimore is going to look this year. Not impressed last year but willing to see what he has now. All his reviews were stellar prior to the acquisition.

Good read on Newton below (scroll down):
https://www.nfl.com/news/2025-nfl-al...dgerrin-cooper Kid could be a straight beast soon. His physical skills are definitely there. |

Peters chimes in on McLaurin situation:
https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profoo...et-a-deal-done Camp is here. Still no deal. Just do not understand why this could not have been completed prior to camp. |

I actually think it's I actually think that McLaurin being away from camp isn't that bad a thing because it gives JD5 a chance to develop rhythms with other receivers. Sent from my SM-S711U using Tapatalk |

Again, if he gets too greedy AP may say no and trade him. Look at what the Chiefs did with Tyreek Hill (better receiver) and still won a SB without him. Peters knows the game and is willing to play. 3 days and counting now. Why the delay when McLaurin said weeks ago he wasn't playing around and wanted a new deal? SMH. |

Re: Commanders 2025 Offseason Thread
McLaurin officially not at training camp losing $50,000 daily. Guess Peters knows now he is serious as others on this board who who were nonchalant about this. SMH.

The fines are bogus because the team will make them up in the contract and honestly $50,000 even for 30 days isn't going to impact Terry McClaurin's lifestyle one iota, Especially when $80 million is on the line. Sent from my SM-S711U using Tapatalk |

Re: Commanders 2025 Offseason Thread
Quinn was asked if Cosmi hitting all the markers meant he could be ready for the start of the season:
"It's on the table for sure. We'll get a better answer on that as we get closer to the end of the preseason but I'm very encouraged with the work he's put in." Good hear no setbacks but I wouldn’t rush it with our depth
