Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal

i cant believe you guys would be happy starting the season with Betts, Cartwright, and any other scrub. i was listening to a syndicated fantasy radio show this morning, and they said the only people that could name the redskins running backs were fans of the team. if Portis is cast off, we need a top caliber replacement.

Our offense is performing just fine without portis. people need to understand that portis is no longer an elite player and he's simply not worth the headaches.

I agree, plus RB's now a days are such flashes in the pan. They wear out so damn quick from the beatings.

I think the trend with RBs is that you can find a good one from the 2nd round on. Also, successful running teams are now using a system of two or three RBs. So I don't know why should the team stick with Portis.

Someone was talking about them announcing that the redskins fulfilled the Rooney rule but wouldnt name the candidate.

Like i said earlier, they said on the TV yesterday during the evening games that the Redskins interviewed Greg Blache for the HC position, thereby satisfying the Rooney Rule.

Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal

I know this was brought up several times but I'm bringing it up as a question. Can DS tell Zorn he's moving him from the HCing position to QB coach? I ask because ......

1) Zorn is a good QB coach.
2) DS owes Zorn for one more year, I thought I heard 3 mill.

Lastly and most importantly...
3) "If" Zorn can be demoted cause he's still under contract would he stay on as QB coach collecting 3 mill next year and leave or would he resign leaving DS not to owe him anything?

Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal

we need a major change in the way of thinking in our FO, i hope allen can talk some sense into synder. i know there is hype about getting shannan in here, and he is a proven coach. but i think maybe we should look at a different coach to bring in. bringing in shannan would be what we have been doing, which is bringing in the big name.

Zorn was not a change in thinking, that was vinny and danny getting a puppet as a coach.

Who do you recommend as our next coach?

I have to ask who you would prefer also...

Spurrier was not a big named coach. He was supposed to be the big up and comer out of college which is why we got him. He failed miserably.

Zorn was supposed to be the non big name up and comer offensively. Supposedly other coach's in the league said Zorn would be a great pick for OC. He was going to be a great minded coach. Unfortunatly we picked up and moved him to HC.

Now it sounds like you want the GM to make the call.....what if he picks a big name? or a no name? will you be satisfied knowing finally DS is doing it the right way and allowing a GM to build a team or are you going to complain for what ever reason? I mean I prefer Schottenheimer. I don't see us picking him. I prefer Gruden next, but he's supposedly tied up in his contract.

But I'm atleast happy the team is finally going to do it the right way hopefully by picking a GM.
