What's funny is I actually agree with you, I'd definitely rather have Rogers over Hall right now.

But my actual point is right now, as of this moment, we have Hall, and the 49ers have Rogers. So what good does bringing it up do? If we talk about it enough, is it going to make coaches/FO personnel realize the error of their ways and try to find a way to bring him back? Is it going to make any difference whatsoever in what this FO does tomorrow? No. Because they're probably focused 100% on the players we do have and the problems we have to solve.

The only way Orakpo's future here is in jeopardy is if his health becomes an issue.

Can we apply the same standard you are holding Landry and Rogers to on Brian Orakpo, who just lost a critical season (maybe the decisive season) as a Redskin because he didn't entirely heal from the preseason injury and or last years injury? I mean he was a Cerrato pick so he's pretty much part of the problem at this point.

Either that or if some team comes with a good offer for him.

Here's the point that I'm making with Orakpo: it's easy to find fault with anyone after they are gone. The shanahans have made an Art of it. If Orakpo doesn't have a rebound year in 2013 and the defense continues to struggle, you can either try to build around your best players, or point out that they want more money that you're willing to play and move on without them. Doing the latter gets you the Redskins current secondary. It almost cost the Redskins London Fletcher. It could cost them Orakpo.

I agree. I felt like he was coming into the scheme well so far, obviously he's not a huge asset in coverage but as long as he did an adequate job on that (and they didn't put him in the slot against any speedy wideouts *coughschemeissuecough*) as well as kept the sacks coming I think he has a future here. There's still a part of me that feels he'd be better as a 4-3 edge rusher but I liked the pressure him and Kerrigan were able to get as bookend pass rushers. And with so many holes on other areas of the team upgrading over Orakpo definitely wouldn't have been a priority at all, at least unless the scenarios Ruh said presented themselves.

Orakpo and the Skins were working on a long term deal this summer, don't know what became of it. But I don't see him going anywhere. Yes they included him in original discussions for RG3 but that's kind of standard.

It's hard to trash him if we don't know the whole situation. What if he is actually against the way Haslett is running the defense and would rather control the secondary his way? Who knows who is actually running the show back there. I would think Haslett is still calling the plays for the defense, and I'm pretty sure most of them already have a plan for the db's in place. But like I said, I have no idea how much input he has in the situation so I'm not gonna criticize him.

It's easy to second guess down the road when you know the outcome.
this is one truth. another truth is there are no absolutes. lets say we kept rogers at his price, do we know he would have mimiced his pro bowl year? we don't.

what would 18mill in cap space last offseason meant to our oline depth and/or secondary? probably 2 upgraded bodies competing in camp. SS's point about offenses playing down to our offense makes alot of sense to me at this point.

We could have upgraded two positions anyway by giving up on known weaknesses. This is what we chose.
