Punch, I feel like you are overreacting a bit on this one. He didn't say it was the flu, and it wasn't implied either. He said we might be facing a situation where it's similar to the flu in that we have to get a booster shot every year to kill the new variant. But he also didn't say he was opposed to that either. As far as certain people on this board go I don't think Chief is one of these extremists that will go to any length to minimize COVID's impact.

My initial comment about “back to its the flu” was dumb. Wasn’t trying to say that he thought this was the flu. I harkened back to the original misinformation and let it fly.
What I was trying to say was that even comparing the flu vaccine to the covid vaccine is silly because, again, we can live with the flu. Not so much with this virus. How many people get flu shots every year? Not 70 percent of the country’s population Ill tell you that. But we live with it. For the most part, the very most part. This vaccine is beyond necessary to stop this thing in its tracks. I dont know Chief obviously. Wasn’t talking directly at him when i said “fuck you get your shots”. Was talking to the world in general. This isn’t politics, or team names, or favorite movies we are discussing. This is life and fucking death. I won’t sit back and let people post misinformation. Sorry. Fact is that the vaccine is our only defense if we want to stop social distancing and wearing masks, etc, and we are running out of time. His statement about …well its gonna mutate so learn to live with it is fuckin garbage. Sorry. Get your shots. Do your part. There is no science whatsoever that backs up his “the vaccine isn’t right for everyone “
That is misinformation.

Having this conversation after the last 18 months is mind numbing to say the least. People choosing sickness, deaths, masks, shutsowns, fear over what? A shot? Holy shit.

Re: Coronavirus (sports edition) thread

Remember when the warpath locker room used to be about x's and o's, not names and blames. The good old days when preseason talk focused on the rise and fall of players' odds for making the team - not the odds of a refused jab or of whether a logo is a go or no go.

No longer do we go to a preseason game hoping the 1st team gets a td on its first drive, now we just piss or be pissed on depending on if our mask and pants are on or off.

But come on Skins fans or wft fans or howling wolves fans, the season is nearly here and the JAGs will be off the team, and some jabs will go unjabbed.

Set aside the hysterical hysteria and put on the fanatic Fandom. This team is ready to rock and roll, unless we get named the Monuments in which case we all will have to grin and bear it.

Maybe you should have just left it as

For those on here who do not know the definition of misinformation, I'll leave this here for you.

Misinformation: false or inaccurate information, especially that which is deliberately intended to deceive; incorrect or misleading information.

For those on here getting confused about what anyone is trying to say, Ill leave this for you.
There is absolutely no science that says the vaccination is bad. There is all the science in the world that says it is safe and effective.
The only way to stop the virus from mutating into something even deadlier is to get your vaccine.

“Get the vaccine if you want it” and “this virus is going to mutate either way” is one part bad advice, and one part misinformation because it is false and inaccurate, the virus can only mutate if kept alive by the unvaccinated.

You're simply wrong man. I'm sorry you don't understand this, but I can't let you keep putting out this misinformation. Vaccines will not prevent viruses from mutating, they just won't. In some cases vaccines themselves result in mutations of a virus. Does that mean you shouldn't go get your vaccine - NO, and I never advocated for anyone to NOT get the vaccine. But I'm not going to pressure anyone into getting one either. Quit twisting my words, and do a little homework.

Yes I am wrong. Science is wrong. Doctors are wrong. Schneed and several others who have tried to reason with you are wrong. You are right. Gotcha.

VACCINES WILL PREVENT VIRUSES FROM MUTATING BECAUSE THERE IS NOTHING FOR THEM TO MUTATE IN IF WE ARE ALL VACCINATED. WOW. Does anyone have a brick wall i can borrow to bang my head against. It would be easier. Nobody is twisting your words Chief. I’ve done plenty of homework. Never said you told people not to get the vaccine so you stop putting words in my mouth. I said “telling people get the vaccine if you feel like it is bad advice. Ill allow you the last word here if you would like. I tried. There is nothing else to say or any other way to say it that will help you understand so,….

LOL

Shout all you want - YOU are wrong. I never said science is wrong or doctors are wrong. I actually said listen to your doctor. LOL

I feel like maybe you have banged your head on too many brick walls already, that might be the problem here.

Look, the creation of a vaccine for any new virus can cause additional mutations, AND the virus will also randomly mutate on its own as long as people continue to get infected (and both vaccinated and unvaccinated people are still getting infected).

Even Schneed10 understands what I'm saying here. His words:

"The one piece you said that made any sense was that the introduction of vaccines can result in mutations of the virus. True - it's like whack-a-mole, beat one variant down with a vaccine, and another will emerge...variants will also emerge through random mutation, the chances for which increase as the number of infected rise."

Vaccines can definitely slow the process, but I'm a realist. We're never going to get to 100% vaccination. Hell, about 20% of the world's population isn't even eligible for this emergency use vaccine. So, unless you plan to lock your kids in a closet for the foreseeable future, this virus will randomly mutate.

Will we ultimately get through this without a 100% vaccinate rate? I believe so.

Will more people die? Yes.

If you get the vaccine are you guaranteed not to get the virus or spread it? No.

Do you have a better chance of not dying from or spreading the virus if you get the vaccine? Yes.

Where you're going wrong though is failing to think of it in the aggregate.

All three of these statements are true:

1) The more people the virus spreads to, the greater the chances the virus will mutate to form new variants.

2) When the virus encounters vaccinated hosts, it gives rise to the possibility for new variants, as it adapts to survive and continue to replicate.

3) The impact of 1 above is greater than the impact of 2 above, so that if more people are vaccinated, on the aggregate, you reduce the potential for new variants to form.
