Re: Those of you looking for some to blame.
What I love about this site is that most posters are capable of intelligently debating things. Unlike some other unnamed websites, we are not controlled by anyone and we do not simply tag Snyder's line. We love the Redskins and are always willing to stick by them, but we don't debate like immature 5 year olds who name call. We differentiate ourselves from Philly fans.
Unfortunately, I have been absolutely blasted by people for saying that our offense has had problems lately. I have also said numerous times what a great season this was etc. I have had to repeatedly justify my opinions about our offense to those who are either totally unfamiliar with my own take on the team (which is overwhelmingly positive) or who are simply choosing to ignore my other posts. Frankly, I'm tired of justifying my opinions. If you disagree with my posts, that is fine. I encourage healthy debate. But, please don't sully this site's, or your own, reputation by resorting to name-calling. |

Re: Those of you looking for some to blame.
Contrary to what the original post intimated, I don't think anyone has been calling for Gibbs' head. I think it is unanimous that he did a fantastic job this season. So, let's not overstate things.
Also, since people have pegged me as the "pessimist," I suggest you read some of my posts from earlier in the season when we weren't winning. I note how people were overreacting to Loss http://www.thewarpath.net/showthread.php?t=9275 I defended Gibbs playcalling after the loss to the Chargers http://www.thewarpath.net/showthread...5&page=3&pp=10 I told people not to give up on the team http://www.thewarpath.net/showthread.php?t=9273 I defended Gibbs W-L record http://www.thewarpath.net/showthread.php?t=9329 I defended the team, raising the strength of schedule http://www.thewarpath.net/showthread.php?t=9425 Before I get labelled as purely, an attention-seeking MF'er, please do your homework. It's my wife's fault she washed my jersey and moved my shrine which wasn't washed or moved since the streak began. My appologies to all of you. She caught a beating for it though.( just kidding about beating)

Re: Those of you looking for some to blame.
"When we lost Patten, we took a big hit."
I'm not so sure Patten was the answer either. Patten may be a legitimate slot. We need another receiver, what Moss did by himself is all the more impressive considering that he did it by himself. We got by without a legitimate threat on one end of the defensive line too. We got by without much depth on the offensive line. ...but we didn't just get by--we got to the playoffs. ...and that's largely because of coaching. Any Redskin Fan that doesn't see the incredible job Gibbs did this year just isn't lookin'. The difference is character, and Gibbs has it comin' out his ears. Look at the teams who made legitimate runs this year--all character teams, all with character coaches. As of a couple of days ago, there were ten teams lookin' for coaches--all ten of those teams will start next season two years behind us, at best. ...and if they're not character guys, they're not legitimate contenders. Gibbs should hang up his clipboard? ...That's nuts! Home field advantage means so much in the playoffs. If a couple of plays had gone the other way this season, we'd have played yesterday's game at home. Those plays will go our way next season. Over sixteen games, coaching is the difference. ...Joe Gibbs is the difference between how far we got without him, and what we did this year. ...and we've got Williams back for next year too! I think the expectations of anyone who thought we'd go farther this year were unrealistic. Playoff losses hurt much worse when you think you're only gonna get a shot once every ten years, but I remember when any year we didn't make the playoffs was considered a failure. ...I look at where the team is now, and I think those days are right around the corner again. I remember, when I was a wee fan, when we really were hopeless losers. Being a 'skins fan back then meant cryin' tough, and stickin' with the bandwagon even when the parade was over. That ethic was exemplified by people like Sonny Jurgensen. I always figured if I had a son, I'd name him Sonny Jurgensen Shultz. ....but Joe Gibbs Shultz kinda has a nice ring to it too! We don't have to cry tough. We don't have to cry at all, 'cause I don't think this parade's over yet. I think it's just gettin' warmed up. |

Re: Those of you looking for some to blame.
I don't think anyone here has blamed Gibbs. Yeah many people blame Brunell. I am sure the worst thing I heard was Gibbs to get Mike Martz and it seemed everyone at the other site agreed. I don't think that we should say that everything is hunky dorry though because we did lose. That doesn't mean we underachieved but the same team next year is not gonna lead us to the Super Bowl.
I do not want TJ here any more - even though i still think he has potential lol we always have. I do not think Patten is the answer at WR. I think our team was MUCH MUCH MUCH better with Patten as he was a real distraction but our passing offense sucks people. IT really does. Look at the numbers it sucks. We only got 91% of the yards the opposing defense ususually gave up. THat means on average we gave the oppossing defenses good days through the air. OUr passing offense is flawed. We need another WR. |

Re: Those of you looking for some to blame.
I agree with Ramseyfan, people are just saying their opinion, its no big deal. We are all thankful for how far we have gotten, and no one is hating. That being said, it is no big deal if someone says something negative about the team, most of you guys are being very uptight. Most of the people on this forum love the Redskins, and that is why we are so passionate. We are trying to think of ways to improve. Only reason I am upset with the offense is because I love the Skins, and I realize everyone is upset that people are bashing the SKins, I am not bashing them, I am just another very passionate fan like the rest of you guys.
